Colour me orange

Hello lovelies! This was my favourite outfit from last week - the one that seemed to garner the most attention and compliments. A beautiful spring day with a fabulous blue sky deserved an equally fabulous outfit.

Fabulous, but nothing new here. I'm gradually culling my wardrobe, keeping only these hardworking pieces that I know I love and will continue to wear often. After gathering clothes for goodness knows how long, I'm on the big dejunk that happens later on in life (yes, this applies to me as I knock on the door of my 70's).

Orange is such a happy colour, a true burst of joy for me. The jacket was a Vinted find, the dress was from New Look many moons ago, belt was from Amazon and baseball boots were from Primark. If you happen to visit Tresco this summer then it's highly likely you'll see me wearing this as it's a real feel-good outfit.

The jacket is one of my truly interactive pieces, prompting lots of comments. Mostly it's referred to as my Sargeant Pepper jacket or my Freddy Mercury jacket - I'm perfectly happy with either of these.

The orange perpex rings are indeed old, but are perfect pairing for this look.

The chunky necklace always gets me compliments and suprises people when they hear it was a buy from TopShop when they were trading. (Boo hoo, I do miss TopShop!) My sunglasses are from Quay Australia and really are ancient.

The cream woven baseball boots look deceptively smart and yet come from Primark. A flat shoe is always all-day comfortable and this was a long day, ending with a drinks party at work.

I do rememeber watching a programme over 10 years ago, called the Fabulous Fashionistas which definitely impacted on me and the idea of creating my own fashion blog. One of the ladies spoke about her outfits saying if she had a favourite that she would often wear it for several days consecutively, up to a whole week in fact. This is one of those outfits that I could wear on repeat without tiring of it.

Thanks for joining me and I hope you have a lovely week!

Pink and orange summer outfit

Hi there! How's things with you? This was my work outfit from yesterday. The bright pink linen dress comes from the brand Cerulean and was a purchase from a charity shop in Penzance when I was on the mainland in May. I've changed the buttons from very boring little brown ones to hand made beauties from a local maker, Emma Humphries from the Popplestone Studio on St Mary's. Emma made the buttons to match my orange and pink ensemble and they're fab!

I'm thrilled with the new dress and the addition of these colourful buttons are the icing on the cake. As you probably know I do love to style my clothes in my own individual way so having bespoke buttons is a wonderful expression of this.

Pink and orange are such a great colour combination for the summer, don't you think? Bright, cheerful and full of joy is how I see this look. The dress is second hand, the buttons new and the rest is old. The orange (ridiculously high) sandals are from ASOS and somehow I managed to wear them for most of the day. The orange stretch belt was from Amazon, sunglasses are from Radley London, fabric woven necklace was from Vinted and the Candy bag is by Furla.

The dipped hemline at the back of the dress can be a bit tricky if I wear flats as it tends to get caught between foot and shoe - I might have to do a risk assessment on that! Wearing high sandals sorted that out on the second time of wearing though. The shirtdress could be worn without the belt but for me that simply not an option as I'd look as wide as I am tall - not a look I'm going for. Not only that, but a belt always draws the eye to your narrowest point, especially if it's a colourful one!

It's been a tame week apart from some colourful dressing for work - I tidied some weeds from our garden wall this weekend, had some lovely swims on Pentle Bay in the morning before anyone else was around, did the usual cooking and cleaning etc, etc. On Saturday, I'm sad to say, Sasha went back to Manchester after having been home for two weeks. She had returned for her friend Duffy's wedding and had a fantastic time catching up with all of her friends and family on Bryher. Aside from that she had worked remotely so we didn't have a lot of quality time together as she was pretty exhausted. We managed to fit in a family walk with the dogs on the morning before she left which felt very relaxed so that was good. On the upside I'll see her again in September when she and I hook up for a long weekend together...

Wishing you a lovely week!

Another shot of colour this week!

Hello again! I missed showing you this outfit a few weeks ago, so am going to share it with you today. The swirly psychedelic maxi dress was a Vinted purchase, bought because I love all of these colours together plus it goes so well with my current favourite Dr Marten boots.

My orange jeans jacket is a great extra layer and works beautifully with this palette too. The brand is Forever 21 and once again was from Vinted. I love the crop length with the dress.

The orange stretch belt was from Amazon - it's perfect for adding a bit of definition to the shirtwaister. I wore an orange tee shirt underneath the dress as it was a day of mixed weather so this gave me an extra layer of warmth at the start of the day.

I love how the dress and boots works so well together!

There's nothing new with my jewellery; two perspex rings, shark's tooth pendant and River Island sunglasses are all old.

My thanks to Fiona who joined me for an after work session of walking and blog photography. We always manage to have a laugh and it's usually at my expense! Thanks for joining me and look forward to seeing you again soon!
