Vintage Jaeger + Tu = my style

In case you didn't know, I'm a big lover of bright colours. Patterns too, and also a touch of glamour, so this outfit ticks lots of boxes for me today. And before you come back at me about these crazy shoes, let me jump in to defend them and tell you that I wore them all day long without a twinge of pain or discomfort. The straps were attached with elastic making them easy to walk in, also comfortably snug and the heel to platform ratio seemed perfect for my foot shape. They were brand new from a charity shop, made by good ol' M&S.

What pleases me most about this outfit is the fact that I've married the fabulous shocking pink vintage Jaeger jacket with this dress from the Tu range at Sainsbury's. I love that juxtaposition of high end and supermarket fashion walking out in style together. The jacket was a bit worse for wear with stains down one arm when I discovered it in a charity shop in Truro this summer. I passed it by, not for that reason, but because I have a jacket of the same colour which I still haven't worn yet. Sasha suggested that I try it on anyway. As you can see, the fit was perfect. We dropped the jacket into the dry cleaners and hey presto, it's as good as new. I know it can be off-putting to go into some charity shops where the air is heavy with strange, musty or even slightly unpleasant smells, but for me that can often signal that the shop may be a haven for all sorts of undiscovered vintage finds. A couple of washes or dry cleaning can remedy the majority of smells. And the last reason I'm keen to visit these musty shops is because I know a lot of people won't, therefore I'm very likely to find a stonking good buy - like this beautiful Jaeger jacket!

Have you managed to scoop up a great charity shop find recently? Tell me about it in the comments box below. I'd love to hear about it.

Shoes: M&S (charity shop), dress: Tu at Sainsbury's, jacket: Jaeger, handbag: charity shop, sunglasses: Tu at Sainsbury's, necklace: Debenhams, belt: ebay, rings and bangle: gifts.

Sunglasses alert

Yep, today you may well need to don your sunglasses or maybe turn down the brightness control thanks to these bold and sassy colours! Not one to do anything by halves I've pulled together two of my favourites, green and orange, along with other colourful delights and florals too just to give you your money's worth. The dress is a star as far as I'm concerned, a joyful discovery in Sainsbury's when I was last in Truro. I'm a bit of a fan of their Tu range on the quiet. I chose this because the pattern has a vintage feel and is also a beautiful silky viscose which hangs like a dream. The cut is so flattering too and best of all (let's say it together now) - yes, it's got pockets!

Today's photo-bomber is one of the locals. Adam is the new Harbour master and his cheeky little friend is called Chip.

Apologies you to all for the lack of photos from my Bloggers Meet Up the other day. Kezzie and her mother Ros had a fab day on the island and we covered quite a lot of ground too. I'm just waiting for Kezzie to get back to me with some info and then I can hopefully do a good job to the feature soon. On Tuesday we will be opening our 5th summer exhibition which will mean Wednesday's post will showcase my outfit of the evening. And coming up very soon after that on the 20th is the next edition of #Ping Pong Post. So, you can see it's a bit of a busy month bloggingwise never mind working full time, daily sea swimming and also trying to capture some summer memories with the family before autumn arrives. My weekly yoga session has fallen by the wayside due to work commitments so in one way, I'll not be too sorry to get into quieter times to get back on track with my wonderful yoga teacher and classmates again.

My outfit comprises of the Sainsbury dress from the Tu range (all sold out now), jacket is from Benetton (also sold out), sandals are from TK Maxx (these are nice), handbag was charity shopped, necklace is old, belt, brooch and rings are all charity shopped, sunglasses are Quay Australia, and my rose gold watch is by Michael Kors

This week I'll be linking with these lovely bloggers

Last year, this year.

If you're a long term follower you may well remember this jumpsuit from last summer. I wore it to an opening night party at the gallery see here. This year I've drafted in a whole lot of long gowns for my partying and therefore this has been demoted from posh to everyday. I'm sure this is what we all do isn't it? The dress that starts out being for a special occasion, once the event is over can't keep it's place at the top of the heap forever, can it? Granted, if it's all sparkle and sequins, then it may always remain as evening wear, but aside from those, I'm always happy to demote so that I can get the wear out of it.

To change things up I've added some different accessories, namely this colourful beaded belt which I'm wearing with the clasp at the back to give the rear view a bit of interest. While we're on the subject of rear views, I just have to say how unflattering this jumpsuit is in that department. Let's see, I hear you cry, but no! A woman has to have some pride, please. Suffice to say that I appear to have yards of arse in this ensemble (sorry if that was a bit coarse). If I'd know how this area was not to be highlighted I wouldn't have drawn attention to it by adding this back to front belt. Hey ho, the deed is done. The daytime debut of the jumpsuit was warmly received with lots of compliments on the fabulous cut and print. Early on in the morning I started off wearing my black and white floral jacket too, but it was soon warm enough to dispense with the extra layer. The other difference I introduced this time is the accent colour of turquoise which seems to work well against the russet tone. Last year, this year, I think the styling works well with both, but I prefer this latest version. What do you think?

Jumpsuit is from F&F at Tesco (this one is nice), jacket from Zara (I like this new version), shoes from New Look(similar), handbag charity shopped, sunglasses from Quay Australia, belt by Tu at Sainsbury (sold out) and my jewellery is old/charity shopped.

Keeping it casual

As my daughter is home I took an afternoon off yesterday and we went out for a walk in the sunshine. We visited the Abbey Garden (for full details see here) where Sasha did the honours and took some snaps for the blog. I'm keeping it casual wearing jeans for a change which I thought might make a good feature as I'm always in work clothes that veer more towards the smart than casual.

We spent a couple of hours wandering through the acres of garden, admiring all of the beautiful flowers in bloom accompanied by the constant buzzing of honey bees. This beautiful patch of paradise is only a 20 minute walk from home, yet I am guilty of hardly every making time to visit it (last time was I was here was in January). As we strolled along the paths Sasha and I talked about how this is a real photographers dream, and I agreed that I really need to make more of an effort to pop up for a blog shoot regularly. There are so many wonderful little colourful corners here, I'm sure I could come once a week for an entire year without even repeating the location. Let's see if I can get here once a month just to start eh? My challenge is to juggle working full time with my hobbies of sea swimming, yoga and book club and that's before I even take into account all of the domestic chores that beckon every day besides my passion of fashion blogging. As I say, let's see if I can manage to get here once a month then!

Today's outfit comprises of a cardigan by Tu and jeans by New Look. Shoes are Vans, belt has no brand, but was from TK Maxx. Necklace is old, rings are from a charity shop, sunglasses are by Quay Australia and my beautiful watch is by Michael Kors.
