Sadly, summer is over

Much as it pains me to say, summer is indeed over. But before I descend into autumn/winter dressing I thought I'd leave you with one of my much-loved outfits; the peapod trouser suit which I wore just a couple of weeks ago.

For the past four years this trouser suit has been cropping up not only on the blog but regularly in my workplace, Gallery Tresco, much to the joy and admiration of many of our customers. If you missed the introduction of this dazzling co-ord then see the first post about it here.

This latest iteration sees me adding my summer holiday hat with pleasing results. The colours work very well together and the addition of a hat adds style and sharpness that's appealing too. Do you agree?

My Oliver Bonas sunglasses work nicely with the outfit, as do my very old beads which suddenly came into their own here.

My other accessories are: dragonfly brooch (a present from my daughter), vintage recycled jewellery repurposed into this rather fabulous bracelet, my old bejewelled leather belt is still going strong and the finishing touch are my Emily Nixon sapphire and diamond rings.

There's nothing understated about this look. My shiny silver boots finish everything in true show-off style. I make no apologies here. This look is one of my most complimented at work, so clearly I'm not alone in my appreciation of all things bling. The peapod trouser suit is statement dressing at its best and I'm very proud of it.

Dressing up gives me the opportunity to take on another personality, one who has supreme self-confidence. But surely that's the point of clothing after all? Clothes are our armour, our vision of ourselves that we offer up to the world. I choose to offer up my best self every day, for who knows when our last day may be? If I'm remembered for being that woman on Tresco who wore her best every single day, then that's fine by me.

Second hand jeans - two ways

I recently had a couple of nights on the mainland during which time I managed to fit in a bit of charity shopping. My most exciting find were these two tone jeans for £6. They seemed relatively new as they had a crispness to them which made me think they'd not yet been washed, so were perhaps a bad buy for the previous owner. For me they're an absolute joy of a find and I couldn't wait to wear them!

I rolled up the trouser legs, added a belt and they were good to go. I have a simple white tee shirt underneath this new sweater from Number36 boutique in Penzance - I now have three of these Miss Carla jumpers and I love them!

This is a great weekend outfit. It's perfect for out boating when you need an extra layer when out on the water. By the way - could someone slow things down a bit - the last of the summer is simply speeding by!

My second look for these jeans is with this colourful jacket which I've showcased previously, see here. The no label jacket was from Vinted and really ticks all the boxes for me. It's colourful, easy to wear and great fun. Wearing it with the jeans is a good smart/casual combo and one that I'll look forward to showcasing again.

The tee shirt is old, as is the bejewelled belt (was from Amazon) and the crochet flowered sandals were from TK Maxx (maybe last year...).

The outfit is another ode to summer from me. A wonderful mix of colours and patterns that typifies my style.

Nothing new with the jewellery. The rings are both old, charity shop finds and the sunglasses are from Radley. Reflected in my sunglasses is my bike leaning against the bench and my phone on a mini tripod. This spot is great for not only catching the evening sun but also for getting out of the main thoroughfare of the island. Hopping on my bike to come here beside Pentle Bay gives me the chance to capture the look of the day while still being relatively private. Not only that, but I always stop to enjoy the view of the beach beyond...

Many thanks for dropping by. Enjoy the last of the summer!

Thank you for coming!

Hello and thank you so much for coming. Today's post has been delayed for no other reason than that I'm struggling with too much to do and not enough time to do it in. Frankly, I'm exhausted. BUT, I owe it to you, my lovely reader, to say thank you for keeping coming back to check if I'm around. I'm writing this during my lunchtime as by the evening I seem to be too tired to think. The run-up to the new season on the island seems to have drained all my reserves. I'm too tired to swim despite the fact that it generates energy in me. Mentally I can't face anything beyond the essentials in life. I'm so sorry to start in such a downbeat tone, but I want to be honest with you.

The photos are from Sunday, Mother's Day, which was an absolute joy! I spent some time in the morning sewing the hems of these new jeans. They're by Next, via Vinted, and had those ragged unfinished hems, so I decided to add some bias binding tape to finish them off. You'll see that in the photo below.

I'm pretty sure a professional seamstress would have chosen a yellow tape to blend in but my stock is very sparse, hence it had to be orange. I'm not unhappy with the result to be fair. It's probably what you'd expect from me given that it's my favourite colour.

We went for pre-lunch drinks (with complimentary bunch of daffs for the mums) with the extended family at the New Inn and then went on, the four of us, to have lunch at the Ruin Beach Cafe. The outfit comprises of a jacket that Steve gave me for my birthday, an orange vest top (old) and these jeans with Amazon sparkly belt, plus fab new leather boots from Vinted.

The cute yellow handbag is by Dune, purchased from TK Maxx quite a while ago, but this is its first outing. I love the pretty beaded handle and the size is very cute too. I must love you and leave you now as it's time to go back to work. Thank you so much for coming - it means a lot to me!
