More of my favourites - tweed, paisley, fairisle and florals.

As I write I'm in a state of flux as I have, and still am receiving all of the shopping which I used as self medication whilst I was laid low with the flu over Christmas and New Year. The distraction, nay sheer escapism, of seizing lots of lovely sale bargains was indeed a balm, but reality bites as I now have choices to make. I had this great plan that I would photograph it all for you my dear readers and then document what I was keeping and why. But, as we know life rarely goes to plan. I've already returned the first consignment, the contents of which did have me asking myself "what on earth were you thinking?" and the second and third deliveries are awaiting their fate. I will however, share the details of the latest spoils - two pairs of over-the-knee boots (ahem, no sniggering at the back there!), three pairs of ankle boots, one pair of Mary Jane shoes in snakeskin - stunning, but a tad high, one pair of gold high heel sandals - very good price and useful for forthcoming cruise, two sequin dresses (well only one really, but in two sizes), one patterned sequin skirt, gold slim fit trousers, gold polo neck jumper, glitter tights, gold tights and even tights with bows on. If you can see a theme running through the clothing, I suspect it's because I seemed to be working along the lines of if I can't party then at least I can be ready for the next festive party season. So, wish me luck as the evening draws in and I begin to tackle this shopping binge.

Anyway, with regards to today's offering I can say hand on heart that nothing here is new or even new-to-me. I'm shopping my closet as fashion bloggers say, with great success and a fair bit of delight as long forgotten pieces are rediscovered. Take this wonderful tweed jacket from the now defunct Racing Green. When my children were toddlers I used to get the RG brochure drop onto the doormat every so often. It set me dreaming of a time where I would have the money to buy such exquisite clothes. Well in a round about way I have to thank my children for providing me with the money. My husband captured our little lovelies on film doing a bit of impromptu slapstick where one good hit deserves another and long story short we received a cheque for £250 from the TV show "You've been framed". My wonderful and generous husband insisted that I should use the money for a treat and hey presto I bought my Racing Green jacket.

The rest of my outfit is from various charity shops apart from the beautiful olive leather and suede boots which were a purchase from Russell and Bromley a few years ago. I'd drooled over them for some time, but held out until the January sale when I happened to be in Exeter and finally had a chance to try them on. At a £100 off in the sale they were still £199 but I knew I would love them forever, and I do.

Jacket: Racing Green. Jeans: All Saints (charity shop). Fairisle vest: Ralph Lauren (TK Maxx). Blouse: New Look (charity shop). Boots: Russell and Bromley. Green pearls: Almost Perfect. Handbag: Accessorize. Perspex ring: gift. Brown ring: East.

  1. I must say the jacket has me drooling. You can see the quality immediately. I love it belted with the boots. Looks very much like the Scottish walking ensembles the Stroyans used to wear when I lived and worked in Scotland at their private hunting lodge. Practical but posh.

Thanks for making me feel so much better about my purchases! Ha! I was feeling terrible guilty before but I believe you may have just out-shopped me.

    bisous

    1. Hahaha My husband is in fact the gamekeeper here and is running a shoot this weekend, therefore my choice of outfit is heavily influenced by the shooting party. I must add however, that I steer clear of the activities and just like the clothes!
And I'm pleased that my indulgences have made you seem restrained. The list didn't include my first lot of returns nor the things that I'm waiting for. I'm still blaming it all on "influenzia delerium shoppingitis" x

    1. Somehow confessing of my excesses to fellow bloggers helps. And heading off to the Post Office with a huge box of returns will help even more!

  3. Look at all the beautiful patterns you put together here Anna! Amazing!! I can't decide which pattern I like best. First I saw the plaid jacket, but then there was that adorable vest. Next up the flowered blouse and then a close up of the pants. Wow! Can you pattern play or what!?

And all the shopping you did?! Wow! Lots in store over here!!

Thank you for linking up to the Kremb de la Kremb Style Stories Anna. It's time I tried to belt a cardigan or blazer. I need to try this trend as it looks so good as you have shown us all!

  5. Lovely jacket and glorious boots! All together a smashing outfit.

2 pairs of of over the knee boots? Wow! I tried my daughter in law's on and I looked like I was off out for a spot of angling.....Not for me I'm afraid - the curse of short legs!

I expect you have to shop on line as you live on an Island but I find having to return things such a hassle I don't do it too often. You certainly seem to have cruise wardrobe sorted! How long till you set sail?

    1. Online shopping isn't my favourite thing at all - was just a way of passing the time while I was ill. Now have the horrible task of repacking and returning most of it. Will have a scurry around my charity shops though in a couple of weeks, then we set sail on the 7th Feb - hurrah!

    1. Good ol' Racing Green eh? This jacket is still as good as new and I'm going to make an effort to wear it a bit more now that I've rediscovered it. I tend not to really tune in to the prints - I just let the colours work together and take it from there x

  12. I like this shoppingitis thingy, Anna, and henceforth shall I be using it with great relish :) and for the record, everything you're wearing here is AMAZING. Fact of the matter is, when I first saw this outfit, I exclaimed, aloud, WOW, she looks so cool. And since it was at that precise moment that we were watching Murder She Wrote. Ah well.

    1. Use the shoppingitis will gay abandon Sheela, I do! I wasn't really sure this was good enough for the blog which just goes to prove that we really can't be the best judge as we're too close to the action sometimes. Anyway, thanks so much, am glad you like it x

  13. Yes, I had an image like Suzanne, the walking outfit. Stunning. Can I imagine people wearing this for walking around Vancouver. Bwahahaha! Can you hear me laughing over there? But I was equally if not more excited to see what you've had hiding inside the jacket as well - those colours and textures.

Our Canadian postal system rates are an excellent cure for shoppingitis. In fact, they are likely to cause nausea, not help cure it.

    1. Yep, my ears are ringing from all that laughter Mel. Shoppingitis is gradually fading as sanity/normality returns. So much so, that today I returned one pair of shoes and FIVE pairs of boots! There was only a slight amount of weeping and snivelling as I packed them all up last night, but today I felt nothing but relief that the trying on and deliberating was over. And hey, it's only two weeks now until I get to visit REAL LIVE SHOPS woohoo!
