More glittery shoes

I'm on a bit of a run at the moment, and it's all about the glitter. But these trainers are proving to be a bit of a problem. I keep bringing them out, putting a few items together, gadding off to work, then half way through the day I decide that this isn't quite it. Take a look, let me know.

I think these sparkly trainers are so cute, but they're proving to be a big style challenge for me. I can't quite visualise what I'm trying to achieve which I suppose is the problem. I've another outfit with these to show you soon, but in the meantime if they inspire you, if you can see what I need to be wearing with them, then please do drop me a line. If my legs were those long, slender ones, then I'd maybe wear a skirt, but hey, that's not the case.

Diane of Fashion On The 4th Floor see here showcased a fab pair of baby pink trainers earlier on this year, which sent me hurtling off to the shops to find something similar, and since then I suppose I've been hoping to emulate her sleek style (with not much success). She wore them again here, and once more this inspired me to pare down my naturally flamboyant look to acheive something similar. I've not pulled this off yet, and maybe Diane's height is what makes this willowy, sleek look impossible for me to mimic. Imitation, as they say, is the sincerest form of flattery, and I do hope Diane can smile down on me from the lofty heights as I seek to live up to her immaculate outifts.

I can't help as dislike trainers and only have one pair for walking in. I don't think the outfit is the sort that is enhanced by trainers; I think a pair of stilettos might have been better. I do like the trousers and the stretchy blouse, though. I hope you get some inspiration from somewhere re the trainers!

    Have a great weekend

    1. I really don't want to treat these as just trainers. The sparkle in them deserves something better, something more, and rest assured that I'm determined to find an ensemble beyond plain old jeans that will work with these. Thanks for your honest response - that's exactly what I need!
Wishing you a lovely weekend too x

  3. Trainers are awkward to style. I struggle to envisage how to include them in an outfit which is why I don't wear them. The sparklies are gorgeous!

  4. I suffer with the exact same issues. I'm not tall nor skinny...runners do not look good on me no matter how cute they are. I just look stumpy. I even struggle with brogues unless they are quite pointed.

If you figure out a solution please let me know : ) Me and my feet would be very thankful.

    1. Hmmmmm, I hate to admit it, but stumpy is a very good description. Do I really have to give in and keep them for weekends with jeans? Will keep on trying...
Thanks for your input and hey, at least it's not just me who struggles with them!

  5. Although this is a really beautiful oufit it is just too dressy for the trainers. Long, lean ladies like Diane can wear almost anything. Thus models are shaped like Diane and not like normal women.
I suggest a very short beige bootie.
Try your trainers with a narrower pant like you're wearing in the posting "Suede, leather, and sunglasses" It looks like you have on a round toed flat shoe there. Don't you also have a cute, short black and white check, herringbone, or tweed jacket? Maybe instead of the beige leather in that post?
They're great trainers and I love the sparkle too!

    1. Thanks for pointing out that I'm normal Judy, hahaha! Diane is indeed model shaped and that must be why I keep an eye on what she wears as it always looks fabulous - that extra height really helps.
I spent half an hour last night trying on lots of alternatives just to see if I can get a less-than-casual look out of these trainers. Will let you see how that goes. Thanks for all the useful suggestions x

  6. The runners don't look right to me with this outfit (plus, they look beige, even though I know they are glittery, and so immediately look blah to me). I have trouble with the runners + dressy clothes outfits, myself.

I adore these cuffed trousers, though! I think they cry out for a pointy high shoe. Looking fabulous as always, Anna!

    1. You're right, they don't work with this outfit at all Sheila. I so, so want them not be relegated to weekends and jeans though. Yes, the cuffed trousers would be fab with pointy high heels (or maybe boots) but they seem to have taken the focus away from my poor trainers. I'm not finished yet...

    1. Thanks Laurie. I've been so lucky having Polly to do such a great job to these photos. I'm laughing at how everyone wants to style up the outfit rather than find the soloution to my shoe dilemma!

  8. When I have a styling problem like what you are having I take it from the completely opposite direction. You've tried the casual pants direction now come at it from the other direction. I find so many solutions using this method. Good luck and let us know what your solution is!

  10. Firstly I love the poses! And my, those fabulous sleeves! You most certainly don't have to relegate these sparkly gems to weekends and jeans but I do agree with the other ladies that they're not quite right with the trousers. The outfit is fabulous though.
I think they would look great with a short skirt - leather or suede with some funky tights, paired with a chunky knit for a casual look or one of your fabulous jackets you have in your wardrobe!

    1. Thanks for all of your suggestions Jacqueline. I like the idea of a short skirt and funky tights. I'm going to give it a try, but in the meantime this obsession has to play itself out a bit longer - I've got a couple more efforts in my draftbox to show you first. Let me know what you think x

  11. You're so brave, Anna!! I think that's why I wear my heels the way I do? They're my armour and the mere thought of putting them aside for anything lower just petrifies me :) xoxo

    1. Brave Sheela, or maybe a little bit crazy? I have this need to face a challenge head on until I've defeated it. This may be a long, drawn out battle I fear.
