Black trouser challenge 6

Here we have week 6 of my black trouser challenge featuring these fabulous frilled lovelies from River Island. You don't often see me wearing red - last time was at Christmas with this red skirt- but today I've rediscovered this M&S linen top that I bought in a charity shop last summer and this is its first showing.

Red and black may well be everyday wear for most of you, but this is a giant step out of my comfort zone. Having said that, I realise that finding the right shade of red makes my skin come alive. I've previously shied away from reds thinking that they didn't suit me, but that's because I've been trying reds with a blue tone in them as opposed to this which is a tomato red that veers towards orange. The vintage handbag doesn't come out much for all the previous reasons so this is a great excuse to showcase it once again.

Outfit details - trousers: River Island, top: M&S, belt, bag, bangle and rings: all charity shopped, necklace: gift, shoes: BCBGeneration.

On Sunday I'll be featuring my outfit for our first summer show so please join me to see how I kicked things off this year.

  2. Just lovely Anna! The necklace and purse give this iteration a preppy vibe to my eye.
Have you tried these ruffled trousers with boots yet? Perhaps we'll see them again this fall?

    1. I really liked this version too Jude and mainly thanks to the excuse to bring out this vintage handbag.
If you recall on number 3 of the challenge, I did wear black and gold brocade boots and you loved them! Maybe you're suggesting long boots?

  3. I agree with you about the red! This color really warms your skin. You know, red is such a bold color and you dress so boldly without having to rely on color so maybe that's a reason you don't wear it so much. I loved your Instagram video of your pants. Too pretty! I've missed reading your blog posts and I'm planning on catching up! Have a wonderful weekend Anna! Julia xx

    1. Thanks for that vote of support Julia. I bet you wear a lot of red with hair your colour. Glad you liked the little video!

This blogging leaves little time to visit other blogs, don't you think? I'm forever playing catch-up. Cheers for taking a moment to drop by x

    1. Thanks Jill for your input here. I would never have considered this black and red combo at the start of the challenge, but I'm delighted with this look today. It's all about trying things out before I jump to a hasty decision. The bag is a beaut isn't it?

Wishing you a fab weekend too x
