Black trouser challenge 9

Yes, it's week 9 of my self-imposed Black Trouser Challenge featuring these marvellous fancy pants by River Island. Today's post is very special however, due to a spot of luck. Earlier this month I entered a give-away sponsored by ADRA. Now, I'm sure we all have friends who are always lucky with raffle tickets and prize draws, but I never win anything. Until now. ADRA chose me as one of their four winners in their 4th of July draw and I won this beautiful white blouse. Huge fanfare, streamers popping and technicolour fireworks zooming skywards please!

The blouse is a dream to wear, made out of 100% silky smooth cotton and is crispy cool for summer. I love the cutaway shape to reveal shoulders and also love that it's cut high enough to clevery hide that unsightly overspill that can happen between bra and underarm - the angle looks sharp, modern and chic. The cutout on the back is beautifully placed to show an area that I'm very happy to reveal, but still allows you to wear a bra. And let's not forget to admire the fabulous frilled finish that has to be the best feature of all. Little wonder that I was so keen to win this as it's the perfect partner for my ruffled hem trousers. The blouse is long enough to wear over trousers rather than tucked in and I'll be showing you that next month when I wear it with a splash of colour to show you a more casual look. So, thank-you ADRA for changing my luck and making my day!

Outfit details - trousers:River Island, blouse: c/o ADRA, necklace: Du Barre, shoes: New Look, belt: Dorothy Perkins, rings: Sainsbury's, sunglasses: Quay Australia.

    1. Thanks Gail. I'm a bit like the cat who got the cream with this perfect little blouse. It's come at just the right time to fit in with my summer wardrobe. Hurrah!

    1. It was such a thrill to win this lovely top, Nancy! For once, the trousers had to play second fiddle today.

  3. Lucky you with that beautiful structured blouse! I am so pleased you imposed this challenge on yourself. I'm loving each of the outfits. The added bonus is that I probably would probably have dismissed the trousers as dominating an outfit and being too challenging to pair with anything but you are showing me all the possibilities that my little head wouldn't have seen. And they don't dominate, they blend and are a perfect vehicle for the choices you make. Have you tried seeing how they work with something uber casual?

    1. Yes, so lucky! Thanks for your comments Mary. I had hoped to challenge myself and inspire my readers and that's maybe working after all. The trousers are quite strong, but that gives me license to play hardball which is my idea of fun. I have a few lovely new tops to wear over the next weeks. You're not the first to suggest a casual spin - I'm mulling that one over...

    1. Black trousers and a white top could sound quite tame and yet the reality is pretty far from that don't you think? I'm excited to showcase the top again soon. And you'll see that Mary is keen for me to style the trousers more casually too - I'm working on that idea now.

  6. Indeed a beautiful blouse. And you have styled it so well with the belt and especially the cute sandals, introducing the blue, mirrored in the glasses.
Well done dear and congratulations with this win.

  7. This says you all over it! Are you sure they didn't tip the scales so you would win it? Love the back cutout especially. I'm actually a pretty lucky person and have won several things, nothing big. And actually I can feel when I'm going to win. Weird huh? But I'm a pretty positive person too so that may be why I feel lucky.

  8. Thanks Julia. That's really interesting that you should say you can feel when you're going to win, because that's exactly what happened to me when I saw the give-away advertised - I just felt sure that one of these was meant for me! I told my friend afterwards once I had won and she thought it was really wierd. Funny eh?
