Summer show 15th July

I'd like to say that the sun always shines on this little island paradise, but clearly that would be a lie. On exhibition nights we always wish for the perfect evening so that the party can spill outside and our clients, with a glass in hand, can watch the sun sink down in the West. That wasn't the case last night, but I'm happy to report that the dull weather didn't spoil our enjoyment of what was a brilliant collection of paintings. To view or download the brochure of our three July shows follow here. The show of the moment features work by Neil Pinkett, Marie Mills and John Bampfield (as seen in the brochure) and has the gallery teaming with images of boats, beaches and flowers as well as a rash of red spots to indicate SOLD.

I spent the evening rustling about in this tulle maxi skirt that I'd found in a charity shop (surprise, surprise!) which is by Jesire and cost me £14. It did earn me a lot of compliments. The black devore body is by Ayanapa and the boots are by Jessica Wright, both are from TK Maxx. The chain belt is so old I can't recall where I bought it and my rings are charity shopped.

The team were in fine form, working hard to make the evening, as well as the wine, flow seamlessly. Thank you ladies for your support. From l to r - Polly, Heather, Ruth and Max - my dream team!

  1. A stunning look Anna and brilliant to hear it all came from TK Maxx or charity shops! Looking at your outfit, it looks like designer!

    1. Thanks Gail! That's the joy of mixing up charity finds with these designer brands from TK Maxx. It's my favourite haunt for unique pieces.

    1. I was a tad worried that the top (body) would be too sexy for work, but the vest underneath helped to calm things down I thought.

  5. This look is really cool! My eyes were immediately drawn to the skirt. I love th tiny star flowers on the sheer background and i think the gray colr adds charm as well. I didn't see the sheerness in the top until the close up shot and then i was completely taken with the combination of different sheers! That top has the nice sensual quality and is lovely. I think it will add interest to lots of different bottoms. You really have a knack for finding unique pieces Anna. I love these!

    1. I loved putting this look together as it was all about the sheers and textures. You know what I'm like Jude, always fighting shy of the ordinary and that's what always drives me to seek out these different pieces when I'm out shopping. On paper grey and black could sound quite plain, but the details are what lift this from ordinary to extraordinary.

"Really cool" in your eyes - well, thank you!

  7. I adore the skirt and am in love with those fab shoes. The top makes me hesitate. Although in itself it is beautiful, I feel it is too severe on this dream skirt. Do you mind if I say that? Of course it is just my taste and you can fully disagree haha. We are much alike but also very different. Write it down to that 😇😉😎💋

    1. Of course you can say that Greetje. I love to hear everyone's opinion, but especially yours as you are always honest. I chose the black top to match the black shoes, both being sheer with patterns - that was my logic. I can't say I felt the top looked or felt severe, if anything it felt slightly risque as it was so very sheer it called for a vest underneath to keep me decent at work.

  8. Anna, I LOVE your outfit! That skirt is gorgeous! Teamed with the black top, it looks a million dollars!! Thank you for sharing the gallery brochure, what brilliant works - so many different styles, yet all so beautifully depicting the island. (It's been so good to see your photos of it at different times of the year and now seeing the artists' interpretations is great). xx

    1. Such enthusiastic feedback, Elizabeth, thank you! I did feel elegant in this rather grown up ensemble which is perfect on a night like this.

My job is a dream - hosting these exhibitions every year is such a pleasure as is meeting and working with all of the artists. I'm very lucky.
