My Christmas detox

Before we go any further let me clarify that the detox was in fact a digital one rather than a food one. My gift to myself over the Christmas period was to take a step back from all things digital. No mobile phone, no Instagram, no blog, no emails - I called a truce with all the digital hungry mouths and stepped back into reality. And it was just like a little holiday.

And here I am, batteries recharged and so very pleased to be back with you again. This was my Christmas Day outfit in festive red and green. The fur coat has proved to be my go-to coat over the Christmas period. It's cuddly soft and has earned me lots of strokes as it's just like a soft teddy bear.

I showed you this dress previously as it came from Zara in my Black Friday splurge. In complete contrast to all of my glittery and sparkly Christmas clothes, I decided dress that this simple shift dress was just what I needed for the day. The feather trim lifts the dress from being too simple, however, as well as giving an element of fun to the overall look.

The other great thing about this dress is the fact that once again, my fabulous red boots come into their own. I may be accused of overkill with these, but hey, shoot me.

All of my jewellery is pre-loved, apart from my Vivienne Westwood pendant. The silver nail polish is called "Pedal to the metal" by Rita Ora.

My regular readers may have noticed the new grey/red/checked theme that seems to have cropped up in my clothes recently. Goodness knows how this has come about, but it's a new found delight for me.

The local pub, The New Inn, very kindly dressed their window in time for all of my Christmas photo shoots, so I really have to thank them for giving me the prettiest of backdrops.

I do hope you've had a lovely Christmas with plenty downtime as well as fun time. There will be a New Year's Eve party at the pub as is the tradition here on the island, but I'm not sure if Steve and I will be going. We've suddenly hit on the pleasure of the box set and are working our way through Game of Thrones in readiness for the next set (out on the 8th of Jan). What are your plans for NYE? Are you heading out to a party or snuggling up in front of the fire with a movie and a bottle of bubbly? Whatever, I wish you a very Happy New Year!

  1. Love those boots - no wonder you want to wear them a lot - they're fab! Your dress with the feathers is lovely and very festive as is the green fur coat.

A digital detox sounds like a very good idea...

We'll be staying in with a glass of something on NYE and probably Jools Holland on the TV.

Hope you have a wonderful New Year!

    1. Thanks for dropping by again Veronica. I can highly recommend the detox - it really feels good to step back for a while.
I've never done the Jools Holland thing, but know it's got quite a following.

      Wishing you a fab year!

  2. I think the holidays are a perfect excuse for taking a tech break. I've done a bit of the same. I'll be easing my way back in after the husband returns to Asia.

I think the red boots are influencing your clothing choices just like they did for me : ) They are great boots and look wonderful with your creative look. What a find on the necklace! I saw a bright blue coat like yours today in Free People on sale 40% off. No, I didn't buy it ; )

I think we will have a quiet evening in this year for New Year's Eve.

Wishing you lots of love and happiness for 2018!

    1. I'm pleased to hear that hubbie was back for the holidays. I bet you had a lovely time together.
I think you're right about the boots leading me in new directions and yes, I'm enjoying the creative journey very much.

All the best to you too for 2018 - peace and joy too!

  3. You standing in front of that sweetly decorated pub window is such a breath of fresh air! It has a wintery feel yet the fact that you could remove your festive green fur says otherwise. You just look cute Anna. Also, your red booties are clearly becoming a "go to" for this season proving that a red bootie truly has versatility. ( even a red cowboy version!)
My husband and I are also watching our Game of Thrones box set at this time. SO GOOD!!
    Happy New Year Anna!!

    1. Thanks Jude. It wasn't cold over the Christmas period, but wild and windy instead. And you're so right about these boots becoming my go-to footwear of the season. I may even wear them out before they go completely out of fashion!
Game of Thrones is our current obsession, but what will we do once it's over?

Happy New Year to you my dear!

  4. Say Anna, when will we see those velvet pants you were in the process of embellishing?? I think you were using pearl beading from another piece of clothing...

    1. I have everything ready to go for these pants, but the weather is just too windy (gusting up to 90mph) to get a photo shoot done. Maybe by the weekend I'll have a chance to get them photographed, fingers crossed!

I mentioned on IG I love the red booties too, they add some color to any outfit. I did the same over the Holidays, no blog, or socials and it does feel good! wishing you a Blessed and healthy New year 2018!

  7. Happy New Year, Anna! I also "detoxed" from being online, and it was just like a vacation - but now I'm rarin' to go again. Love the dress, with those red boots, just fabulous! Wishing you the best for 2018. Hugs, Sheila

    1. It does seem to be so theraputic to take some time out, especially at this time of year doesn't it? This outfit will be great for work at the start of our new season in March - that's if the boots last that long!

Sending you love and best wishes for 2018.

  8. Taking time out is good. I did the same but felt so guilty! You are spot on to keep wearing the boots Anna, they look amazing on you and compliment that gorgeous dress perfectly xx

    1. I think because I told my readers in advance I didn't feel guilty at all. And yes, I'm keen to get as much wear out of these as I can, as I'm sure spring will herald yet another trend to eclipse the sockboot completely!

Happy New Year to you too my dear!
