Something simple

I thought it was maybe time to step away from all the glitz and sparkle of Christmas and post  a more simple outfit. This was taken just two days after I had my tooth out, calling for a good dollop of blusher and a slash of bright red lippy to brighten up my rather peely-wally (aka peaky) complexion.

All the jewellery is pre-loved, including the necklace and bracelet that I picked up last week.

The grey sweater and culottes are both from Primark, again recent purchases. The grey long sleeved tee is a thermal layer from M&S and the boots are from H&M.

Oh how I love these boots!

Every time I wear these red sockboots I feel the cost has been justified. But, more importantly, I just love how glamorous they make me feel and the fit is so comfortable too. Today's outfit is all about comfort in fact, as the culottes have a fully elasticated waist which will be very handy round about Christmas time when waistlines have the habit of expanding no matter how good ones intentions are. I've chosen a shift dress to wear on Christmas day for the very same reason.

I hope to sneak another post in before Christmas Day, but in case I don't I'd like to wish you a very Happy Christmas and also say thank you for joining me as we near the end of another year. Whether you're a regular reader or a now and again visitor I'm so pleased to have you around. But one last thing - I was asked about my party outfit and what I finally alighted on for the event. Well, I wore this skirt and top (see here) but I added these boots instead (see here). The whole outfit made me feel very comfortable, so much so, that yes, I did dance after all!

    1. Me too Laurie, I thought Primark had a host of jumpers that I would have bought if space and money had allowed. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas too!

  2. You might call it a simple outfit, but it looks very good. With focus on the accessories. Really nice. Everythime I see these sockboots on you or on Suzanne I think to myself: “I didn’t see their beauty when they were still for sale”. As you are right, they instantly make any outfit exciting and modern.

    1. You're right Greetje, the boots do have an almost transformational power. I understand your irritation at missing out on them - how annoying for you!

      Have a great Christmas x

    1. So lovely to hear from you again Julia. I think we're both the same in our attitude to blogging which is probably why our friendship works so well. I love to follow your antics on Instagram too so I always feel in touch.

Wishing you all the best for a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

    1. The boots seem to steal the scene every time I wear them. I do love them and have even planned my Christmas day outfit around them. Suzanne has the same ones too and has encouraged me to love them, wear them and make the most of them while they're on trend - such good advice.

      Happy Christmas my dear friend,

    1. I was thrilled to find these culottes in Primark recently - it's my favourite shape of trouser at the moment. And the boots, yes they really make it all work, don't they? Thanks for dropping by again Nancy and hope you have a very Happy Christmas too!

  7. It's a very classic look, Anna and it looks lovely on you. You seem to be wearing more jewellery statement pieces of late. Am I right or am I imagining it? Whatever they look fab!

    1. Toning things down to become classic is pretty new territory for me but these red boots helped the whole thing along. And yes, I tend to focus a bit more on jewellery at this time of year.
Cheers Vronni, and have a wonderful Christmas!

  8. Those little boots have the power to evoke a jolly smile all on their own but with the bracelet and lip color complimenting them, this rather conservative outfit takes on a whole fresh vibe. Those boots need to be center stage and you gave them perfect supporting players here!

    1. Classic, conservative - golly whatever next Jude? I agree that the boots keep me from being too tame, which God forbid, I might become if I'm not careful!

    1. This is quite an understated look for me Jess, but the boots just give it enough of a kick to make it fun. Red has been such a joyful discovery for me this year. And yes, what a find for you with the boots dropping into the Black Friday sale - too good to miss!

Happy New Year to you too my dear!
