Winter again!

I just returned from the mainland yesterday and woke this morning to see the island covered in snow again! Twice in one month is almost unheard off here on the Isles of Scilly, but that's not to say we don't love it.

Any slope will do for a bit of sledging.

The view across the roof tops show the island of Bryher beginning to thaw.

Feeding time for the cattle doesn't usually involve a topping of snow.

Dolphin cottage has never looked so pretty.

The churchyard takes on a very different guise when dressed in white.

Looking at this, it's difficult to believe that we're only two weeks away from Easter.

It's funny how different all these landmarks look in the snow.

The daffodils tell the real tale in this winter scene.

I love to see this cottage turned into an alpine picture.

I can't decide if I prefer this view looking out...

...or looking inwards.

Hang on in there, the thaw is coming!

From the top of the island looking towards Samson.

The heart of the village looks so very different under this blanket of white.

I've walked for a couple of hours in the sunshine and the snow is melting quickly now, returning the island to its normal colours. Apologies to those of you who have snow as a regular occurrence, but I hope that you can indulge me this latest weather focused post. I'll be back soon with a round up of my London trip.

    1. At least this time it didn't seem to be so blooming cold - I think that sunshine was a real boon! Also meant it melted without all that slushy stuff for days.

  2. Oh, I totally get this! We so seldom get snow here too, it's always a novelty to me. And how lovely your island is, Anna! Thank you for the wonderful pictures! I've just posted a bunch of spring blooms for you!

    1. The whole island did look pretty as a picture for those twelve hours. I just got a surprise present in the post - from you?

      Cheers,

  3. Lovely to see these beautiful photos. Its interesting to see these familiar scenes looking so different. I love the snowy fairy tale houses and the shot you describe as looking out, I have photos from a similar spot but taken on a very rainy and misty day so can't see much beyond the trees. We'e got a bit of snow here on the edge of London but not very photogenic with grey skies. Tessa xx

    1. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed these Tessa. I was a bit worried that everyone would be feeling a bit overdone with all the snow photos on the net. Tresco does look beautiful, but in the snow it's pretty spectacular.

  4. I finally looked up where the isle of Scilly are. There are a lot of islands there. Didn't know that.

    1. Oh well done Nancy. Lots of uninhabited islands and outcrops, with five that comprise the main inhabited islands. I'm glad that the blog is broadening your horizons.

  5. Hi Anna, I hope you had a lovely break on the mainland. How was Paloma Faith?
Super photos too, very professional looking. Just to let you know I've started my own linkup party on a Thursday - hope you'll stop by for #chicandstylish in a couple of days. xx

  6. A new dusting of snow is always quite beautiful to see! This from a woman who gre up in a part of the U.S. where snow almost always stretched into early April!! I do have to say that it's very odd to see snow where tropical plants and palm trees are growing!! Your photos show how genuinely charmed you are by the novelty of snow covering a familiar landscape. You are quite charming in that enthusiasm Anna!! Late snow also has a way of amping up one's Spring Fever! :-):-):-)

    1. I can't imagine living in the midst of snow for months on end - I think the reason we all get so blooming excitied about it is the sheer novelty value. We have a forecast for yet more snow over the Easter weekend, but I'm loath to believe that we'll have three lots of snowfall in one year, never mind one month!

      Enjoy your day!

    1. We were lucky that the snow came and went again so quickly. I hate that slushy mess that hangs around for days getting more grubby and messy as it melts.

      Have a good day!

  8. I do see snow all the time but it's fun to tour your island! Plus it's so interesting to see snow on palm trees -- that I don't see all the time! Hope you had fun in London and can't wait to see how you spent your time and what you wore! I'm trying to catch up on your blog too! xx Julia

    1. Palm trees covered in snow are pretty, but still it seems so wrong! The London feature went up yesterday so I hope you enjoy it. No fancy clothes to show you though, as it was quite cold and just part of a very long day out - pop across to see what I mean.

Will come to pay you a visit next,
