Harrogate - the final instalment

As promised, here's the third outfit that I wore at the trade fair last week. The dress is quite old (by Nine West), polo is from Primark, tights and belt are old, shoes are by Office, my handbag is by Ted Baker, rings are preloved and my watch is by Michael Kors. I thought this van was the ultimate in accessorising!

House by Hazel is run by Hazel Holland who is the wife of Tom Holland one of my gallery artists. I do like to make an effort to co-ordinate my outfit with Hazel's fabrics at least once over the show period. It's lovely to catch up with them every day during the fair as we have lots to chat about and generally have a bit of fun too. Tom and Hazel are based in Penryn in Cornwall which means I can pop into Tom's gallery on my way to the dentist to see how the paintings for his next show are progressing. This will be featured next month on the blog.

After my three days at the Trade Fair it was time to cash in the gift voucher from my sisters.

Sandra and Dianne had travelled down from Scotland to join me in Yorkshire so that we could have a brief catch up. Their promise was made good with these crisp Scottish bank notes along with a suitably sparkly purse. We had a busy day visiting my regular charity shops as well as discovering five new ones I'd been unaware of. I had a ball; them maybe not so much!

They even supplied me with an extra shopping bag for the occasion!

Do not adjust your sets - this is terribly out of focus! I know that neither of my sisters would wish to be featured on the blog, but I thought this one would be better than my efforts at soft focus. We had great fun together and even though we're all in our 60's now I will always be the baby of the family, meaning that I still benefit from their wisdom.

And this is the haul! I'm afraid I couldn't find time to take individual shots of these, but have itemised them as - 6 jackets, 2 handbags, 7 pairs of shoes, 1 matching skirt and top, 2 dresses, 2 skirts, 1 pr culottes, 3 blouses, 4 prs jeans, 1 cashmere sweater, 2 shirts, 1 rash vest, 1 cummerbund, 1 hat and lots of lovely jewellery. The majority was charity shopped, but some things were from TK Maxx in both Truro and Harrogate. I featured some of the shoes on instagram - here's the three stars of the show.

I can hear the outcry of "Where will you put all of this?", but worry ye not! This weekend I have three days off work and will be applying myself to the big changeover. During this process I'll be (ruthlessly) culling what hasn't been worn and these will be laundered, ready to be sold on eBay. One of these days, I plan to feature some of these pieces here and link through to my eBay page - you may wish to buy the odd piece or two ...

Anyway folks, it's been lovely to chat. I hope you've enjoyed seeing the last instalment of my mainland adventure. The last word has to be to Sandra and Dianne - a big thank you for my fabulous day out spending all that lovely lolly!

  1. What a fun trip! I'm sure your sister's were exhausted after all that shopping. You made quite the haul. Those silver runners are fab!

Ha ha! That bag is brilliant. I know a bunch of friends that could use it.

I must say I love the colour and images on the twenty pound notes. Gorgeous!

    1. You're right there - my sisters needed cups of tea and a high protein lunch so that they could keep going! We had great fun shopping and they found lots of lovely things for me, as well as carrying all the bags. Yay for my sisters!

  2. What a wonderful gift from your sisters - I can tell by the humour how much they adore you (I would like to see what all those * conditions are! ha!). I love those blue glitter slides SO much...I am drooling over here! As a fellow ruthless culler of closets, I applaud your efforts to move things along. I find I get attached to pieces, but then when I'm reminded that I only paid a few dollars for them, I feel I'm able to pass them along. I would certainly browse that Etsy page...

    1. It was the most perfect birthday present Sheila. The glitter slides are gems indeed and I can't wait to unpack my summer clothes to see what will go with them. The sheer volume of clothes and shoes I own mean I have to move some of them on - just like you my dear!

    1. How cute is that van? I don't have a car, but if I did, this would be my idea one. I'm like a magpie with all of these shiny and colourful things Monica and now the challenge of the annual clothes changeover looms large, I just have to find homes for everything. Wish me luck!

  5. It is clear to me from these photos that you had a wonderful time (once again) finding new treasures to style, but that you also loved being with your sisters and friends from Cornwall. I just got a very loving vibe from your group photos here Anna.
Haven't heard about your ocean swims since the weather got wonky... I'm sure it continues as just another commitment of your joyful 60 yr. old self!

    1. The trip was the perfect mix of business and pleasure for me and yes, particularly because of meeting up with my sisters. We're loud, bossy and opinionated at the best of time, but we can also poke fun at each other which brings us all down to size.

And yes, the swimming still continues in the background. The sea temperature is slowly rising too which helps and means that I can extend my time in the water by a few more strokes every day.

    1. My shoe collection continues to grow and the only downside to that is the lack of display space fro them. This weekend will be a challenge to fit all the summer clothes and shoes into my wardrobe, but a lovely one too.

  7. I LOVE charity shop crawls! I was supposed to go on one with my flute quartet in the holiday after a morning of playing flute pieces, lunch and then charityshopping and then a ceildh but someone scheduled a rehearsal in the afternoon without telling me and I had to go after only a few charity shops! Grrrrrrrrrr!!!! I managed to buy 16 books and no clothes!
Your haul is amazing- I do feel like I would like to visit Harrogate now! I love what you bought! The shoes are stunning! Got to love TK Maxx!!!

    1. It seems that some people just don't realise the importance of us getting our charity shopping fix Kezzie! I can't emphasise enough the high quality of the clothes that end up in Harrogate charity shops and would say yes - get thee to Harrogate now!

  8. Hahaha!!! I LOVE that voucher, especially the part about badly-taken unfocussed blog photography. Heh. I see all the colours in your bounty and tense with excitement. Oh, so much fun in there. And I love the photo of you with your sisters. Happy Birthday!!! I'm sure I'm missing the proper post about it but Happy Birthday anyway.
