Mid week mix

Apologies again for pulling this out of my draft box while I'm away on my holidays. Thanks to you all for hanging on in there and coming back to view.

Golly, I'm not too happy about my mop of hair here! I hope to be looking a bit more sleek upon my return.

Ditto.

These Irregular Choice shoes were a gift from my friend Bun. I've dollied about in them recently and felt totally cutsie-glam, if there's such a thing.

I'm a bit late showing my fake fur in February. Most fashion bloggers had theirs on show in December at least.

The right shoes and tights can make such an impact on any outfit I think. Imagine this same dress but with flesh coloured tights and simple courts. It just wouldn't have this impact, would it? I would encourage anyone to experiment with coloured/patterned/lacy tights to inject a bit of personality to a dress that may have become an old faithful. It's an inexpensive way to add a pop of colour, to test the water too.

I've hesitated about showing the first photo, as it strikes me as a bit frumpy. The jacket was a purchase from eBay ages ago and I've never worn it until today. The rosette pattern was what attracted me, but when I put it on I feel a bit blah. However, it ended up in too many of the shots to edit therefore I'll let you guys be the judge. Don't worry about hurting my feelings as it's already been allocated to the recycle pile. It'll be heading off to eBay in a month or two when I finally get straight. Watch this space...

Currently we should be sailing towards Barcelona if my calculations are right. I do hope that my instagram account is firing on all cylinders showing snaps of our jolly trips out and about and that some of you may be keeping in touch with our travels. Thanks for taking time to visit the blog despite me flaunting my playing hooky. I'll try to keep abreast of all of my favourite bloggers antics too. See you all soon x

Dress: Ninewest (old). Shoes: Irregular Choice. Jacket: eBay. Thermal top: M&S. Orange necklace: old. Brown ring: East. Yellow ring: Martin James. Tights: Topshop (old).

I agree, the coat is rather boring for you.

I hope you are having all kinds of fun.

    1. I agree Suzanne. Am so over this coat. Will send it on its way. Having a wonderful trip, but it's whizzing past too quickly. Heading across from Malta to Barcelona today and are currently passing Sardinia. Our day at see will be spent discovering the whole 18 decks so that we don't keep on getting lost!

  2. I thought the coat was cute and cozy!
I love the dress with the coloured tights and you are so right about that - it can really change an outfit.
The shoes are fab and what a lovely gift.

Hope you are having an amazing time

    1. The jacket is both cute and cozy, but leaves me feeling drab rather than dazzling Veronica. And the coloured tights are my go to remedy if I think I might be looking too conservative. The cruise is amazing, no unpacking, endless food and drink and all the wonderful sights! Oh, and the odd bit of retail therapy is the icing on the cake x

  3. What's not to love about this look!?
It is right up my street.

Fake fur is set to hang around into Spring so you are definitely still ahead of the game. I am wearing mine daily (even if it does not go!).
Your dress with your thermal top (I have that one too...and many others) and those gorgeous tights, is a triumph!
I could not help but smile.
The irregular choice pumps are very Cute-Glam, but they is their appeal.
I have 2 pairs and almost bought a third recently.
They add extra quirk to the plainest of looks. Or, in this case, just add more fun to the mix.
    Fab!

    1. Lovely to hear from you Samantha. It's funny how we all view things differently and am so pleased that I decided to keep the photos of the jacket in to get all of this feedback. I've always drooled over Irregular Choice shoes and having found how comfortable they are too, I'll definitely be on the look out for some more. Catch up with you soon x

  4. I LOVE colored tights...even if there ARE those who say I shouldn't be wearing them at MY age (68). Rubbish! I'll do as I damn well please, thank you very much! The jacket is fine....but with your tiny waist, you could belt it with another bright color borrowed from the dress and have another great look! Happy sailing!

    1. Thanks for the idea of the belt - I never even thought about that. It sounds like we are kindred (rebel) spirits, and is it's great to hear from you. Sailing all day today which is giving me a chance to do a blog catch up x

  6. I'm not sure why you feel the coat is frumpy....that's really the last thing I thought when I saw it! Is it that it's thick? Or maybe it's the color---you should dye it before you get rid of it...because it seems to fit you well and the rosettes are so lovely!! jodie

    1. Jodie I agree with you on the lovely rosettes as that's why I bought it. And it's not too thick, and I even like the colour. It just feels wrong. I'll maybe try it with some trousers for a bit more definition... So lovely to have your feedback x

  8. If there wasn't such a thing as "cutsie-glam" Anna, there is now! Well, I want your jacket if you don't; it looks as though it's lovely to wear. Perhaps you feel it needs more umph - but that could easily be remedied by cinching with a great belt, pushing up the sleeves and turning up the collar; and/or adding an extraordinary brooch. Talking of which, you don't give us much info about your necklace, but it's perfect with this look ... and your hair is perfectly fab too:)

  9. It's great to have such a helpful clutch of style advisors stepping to help with this jacket dilemma, so thank you too Sally. I clearly need to give these all whirl before I jettison it. The necklace is a jolly Perspex piece I found in a little boutique in Penzace many, many moons ago. Our travels around Italy, Sicily and Malta have all gone far too quickly, but were all very scenic. They all yielded gems for forthcoming blog posts too, hurrah!
