I was cycling on my way home when I came across these little kiddies boots marooned on this roadside bench. Surely someone must have noticed their barefooted toddler was missing something? I'll drop them in to the "Lost and found" at the island office tomorrow. The next photo shows that this little girl must have been a budding fashionista and really ought not to have been separated from these cute little boots.
Aren't they fab little boots? I do hope they've been reunited with their owner by now. Anyway, back to the outfit. I just want to add one final photo to show the pitfalls of doing your own photo shoot. I know it's unavoidable for us a lot of the time, but I think if Polly had been with me she definitely would have told me off for over-posing! I thought I looked like an aspiring 1950's model.
Notice that over extended front leg as I try to take on the look of a long-limbed beauty. Hahaha! Thank goodness I don't take myself too seriously. This one really had to be shared. Today's outfit is a mix of new and new-to-me items. The cardi is from H&M (sadly already sold out), the shoes were from TK Maxx, and the trousers are M&S from a charity shop. The trousers fit really well, but are a strange cut - not exactly harem pants, but loose fitting with a drapey crossover front which really didn't photograph as I would have liked. Some well chosen poses and my strategically placed handbag seemed to get round this quite well though. Feedback on today's offering, or anything else featured on the blog, is as always very welcome. It's good to know that I'm not just twittering away for my own entertainment here.
Cardigan: H&M. Trousers: M&S (charity shop). Shoes: SixtySeven (TK Maxx). Necklace: Debenhams. Handbag: Accesorize. Watch: Michael Kors. Bangle: Kate Spade New York. Flower ring: charity shop. Sunglasses: Quay Australia.

A fun post Anna! Lovely backdrop for a long-limbed beauty! I especially love your photo with "that over extended front leg" - looks like page from a fashion or travel magazine!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday dear!

I'm glad you like that special shot - and yes, I thought it might pass for a travel mag shot. The backdrop is stunning especially on a day like this, so I think anything I wore would have looked fab. Thanks for swinging past again x

Ha ha! We are always our toughest critics. I kind of like that pose : ) and your well placed handbag. Quite professional looking!
ReplyDeleteYou really do live on a wonderfully photogenic island.

I think you really have to be a harsh critic to run a blog, otherwise your ego could run away with things, don't you agree? And this island is indeed so photogenic that I do feel like a bit of an unnecessary addition sometimes!

Hi Anna
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous place you live in! I think I would try and swim everyday if I lived so close to sea. I've been trying to track down a wetsuit in the charity shops and so far I've come across two but both sleeveless!!
I think the outfit looks very stylish and the trousers are fab. It is difficult to know what to call those type of trousers - what material is it made of? Love the sandals which set the whole outfit off so well.

Veronica I'm always amazed that I'm the only person on the beach in the mornings - I think it's the best start to the day, ever! Good luck with your search for that elusive wetsuit, I'm sure one will turn up. These trousers are a polyester blend, so are nice and weighty, non-crease too, but blow me I don't what they're called. And the sandals, yes, aren't they fab!

Great to see you in one of my favourites - a leopard skin print - at last! lol! So you've done pink, leopard skin - what's next? xx
ReplyDeleteI don't know why it's taken me so long to jump on these bandwagons. Perhaps I'm just a late developer x

I think you look beautiful! You're always so well turned out! Love the long-limbed pose!!! The place is gorgeous!!!!x
ReplyDeleteKezzie, this quay was buzzing today as a cruise ship had docked and the smaller boats were bringing all the passengers onto the island to visit our world famous gardens. This will be you soon xxx

I love the pose, of course! It's probably BECAUSE you don't take yourself too seriously that you even tried it. I'm glad you showed us.
ReplyDeleteThe road to nowhere. Just don't try and hitchhike there.
The huge pearls look great with the animal print.
And I do hope the little girl gets her boots back! They are so sweet.
Hey Melanie, you are the master of larking about in the name of blogging. I was pleased to not have an audience though as I went through the various moves. Great to hear from you x

What an amazing place you live!! As an indoor girl, I can only be in awe of your swimming & biking all around---and you wore this fab outfit while biking? (I'm assuming it's a pedal bike and not motor bike?)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of this outfit might be the necklace---it adds such character to the whole ensemble!!

Yes, Jodie, it's a pedal bike. I can't imagine not being outside for some part of every day - it's what keeps me sane. I love this necklace too for that very reason. It really does jazz up any outfit.

Well, I vote for keeping the pin-up girl pose! I heard this TED Talk once that said if you stand like Wonder Woman (hands on hips, feet spread a foot or so apart, chest out, head up), you literally feel more powerful. So I try to do that a little everyday. Ha ha! But seriously, maybe if we pose like beautiful models it makes us feel beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous! The necklace and shoes are my favorites. And your photos are making me want to visit your island! Does the Tourism Board pay you? :)

Sherry I completely understand that theory. My sister told me about this idea years ago in reference to happiness, and I think it really works. This necklace always makes me feel so glamorous and these new shoes are my favourites of the day. So glad you like the backdrop, and maybe you could visit one day...?

Nice pose there! That is similar to one of the 5 poses in my repitoire! Ha!The pictures are stunning as I love the blues how rich they are from sky to sea. How wonderful you swim there each day! I love to swim, but this scenery would certainly keep one motivated. Love the thick pearl choker with the leopard print. The sandals look so fun!

It's so lovely to hear from you Jess. There do seem to be poses which work and maybe I just need to go with this one without mocking myself too much. I'm so lucky to have these safe, clean beaches to swim on. My friend who visits yearns to swim every day, but her beach is just not clean enough and when the tide goes out the water is about 4 miles away!
