As suggested by...Joan

Here we have one of my favourite features of the month. My readership really matters to me and for this reason I run this regular item where you decide what you want to see me in. This month my new friend Joan has chosen to see this blouse again which hasn't been out for a long time. Joan has been a great supporter recently, emailing me with her thoughts while I was having my blogging wobble (see here), so thanks for that.

My daughter Sasha brought me the blouse back from her travels in south-east Asia a couple of years ago. I love the unusual pattern as well as the colours which lend themselves to all sorts of mix and matching in my wardrobe. There were so many options to go with it, that I had a problem deciding what today's offering should be. I can see it's going to have to come out again to show you another variation on the theme.

I'm gradually getting into the swing of things now that I've come to accept the change in season, and one of my renewed pleasures has to be the rediscovery of my beloved brogues. These ones were a late winter purchase and therefore may be new to some of you. Pewter is a great colour to wear with this shirt, and as a neutral will be an ideal mainstay to play with this season.  And the other item of note has to be this silver Tiffany necklace which I bought from a charity shop in Ireland a few years ago. How lucky was I to find that?

I fancy that Joan may have had an idea how this outfit would turn out today, but I do hope that I've surprised her. Always looking to reinvent myself through the medium of clothes, I view them as my artists palette, my mode of creativity. My father and grandfather were both amateur artists, and I used to feel a bit frustrated that I couldn't emulate them. Now I can see I just needed to find my own path, my own creative voice. None of this is particularly groundbreaking stuff, but it does give me immense pleasure to find something new within the old.

Outfit details are - shoes from Office (on sale here), tights: old, skirt: charity shop (H&M), blouse: gift, belt: old (H&M), pendant: Tiffany(not current), rings: old.

    1. Wow, what a wonderful response Margot - thank you! It's such fun playing about with my clothes, laying different things beside others, adding and discarding until something pops up, and suddenly it's become an outfit.
Wishing you a lovely evening x

  2. Ooh, I like the pattern mixing and the palette of neutrals (mostly). The brogues are darling - they make me happy that I invested in some bronze ones. When I stopped feeling "wrong" about admitting that fashion is my artistic outlet, it became much free-er for me to experiment - each outfit is like a painting!

    Looking wonderful, Anna!

    1. Thanks Sheila, we're so similar, aren't we. I yearn for some of your shoes, but am very aware that I have a fab shoe collection too. The blog has been so good for my creativity - it's wonderful to know that my efforts are being appreciated daily. I now think "Oh, my readers will love this one!" and that's a double whammy for me.

  4. Although I am usually (always?) playing it safe, unlike you, and find pattern mixing extremely difficult, I LOVE this outfit. So well done. It is so coordinated and so interesting. Really stylish. Very creative Anna.

    1. This is such a suprise to hear that you like this one so much Greetje. I thought it would be way too fancy for you, but hey, welcome along to the joys of pattern play! I really enjoyed wearing it, and the feedback here and on Instagram is all a bonus, so thank you.

    2. I don't know why. Perhaps because it hasn't got too many colours along with all the different patterns?

  5. Interesting outfit, Anna. The blouse is fabulous and the brogues are amazing. This is what I call a second look outfit - you have to look twice to take in all the detail!

    Have a great week

  7. When I first looked at this I thought it was a dress! A VERY ARTISAN inspired or exotic fabric from an Africa or India. Then upon closer inspection I realized that it was a skirt and blouse!!!! The blouse is particularly beautiful! I really love the print mix; your daughter knows you well!! The skirt has funky pockets that remin me of Oragami. The brogues are SPECTACULAR!!! You and Samantha have inspired me to search for an equivalently cool pair of my very own! =)
Joan was on to something fine and memorable here!!!

    1. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this look today Judy. It was fun to put together, mixing the patterns whilst being led by all the grey and white tones. And yes, you must get on and find some brogues that are in keeping with your personality. I think my shoes say more about me than anything else in my wardrobe, and brogues are so very me in the winter!
