Check out these boots!

These boots are one of my two (yes, two) new pairs of jacquard ankle boots. This notion does in fact fly in the face of everything I boast about myself. That being - I don't follow trends and that I prefer to charity shop. Well, call me an out and out liar if you must, but I had a moment of weakness recently. I came across a feature on various trends for A/W and the one that really struck a chord was the opulent, decorated, velvet, textured, frilled, bejewelled, brocade, baroque style that's been strutting down the catwalks. I've been through the depths of my closets and have unearthed all sorts of wonders to recreate these looks, but the boots were nowhere to be found. And this is where the logic of charity shopping pays off: by saving on my shopping throughout the year, I give myself leeway to splurge on some beautiful footwear from time to time (yes, you know this is my weakness).

You'll have to wait a while longer to see the other pair of jacquard boots I'm afraid, but rest assured that they're worth waiting for. As is expected of me, my styling isn't the least bit catwalk or predictable for the real baroque look. I must admit I have worn these boots with a fab frilly blouse - you'll get a eyeful of that soon too. In other words, I'm back on form and loving this new injection of fabulous fun in my wardrobe. Thanks to you all for the wonderful response to my blogging wobble the other day. I'm so grateful to all who took the time to comment and for those who sent me emails too. (A note to Carol who emailed me - I have tried to reply but your server keeps bouncing it back). It was just the vote of confidence that I needed to get me back on track. I realise that I can only be myself and hope that's enough to keep you coming back.

I do have one link for you - for these awesome boots (everything else is charity, old or vintage) so click here if you fancy them too.

  4. Absolutely gorgeous boots. I love floral shoes and coats. I seem to recall you have a lovely floral pair of shoes as well.

The boots look really lovely with the jeans and shirt. I don't how you do it but you look about 6 foot in all your photos!

    Have a great week

    1. So pleased that you like these - wait til you see the other pair! Florals are just to pretty and seem to jazz up any outfit don't they? You'll notice the difference when Polly leaves me - she knows exactly how to take the shots to make me look thoroughly lean, lithe and very tall!
Wishing you a lovely week x

  5. I am all over floral print boots and have a few pair of my own. Mine are more sporty and have the lower heel that I need. Yours are really beautiful. I'm I correct that they are constructed of fabric??
Your floral top and boots are an inspiration. I haven't tried that but will now!!

    1. This new trend is right up my street too Judy. These boots are silk and cotton, so not in the least bit practical for the wet days ahead, but I thought I can pack them up for the spring if I need to. The other new ones are a bit darker so won't look quite so vulnerable to the weather. Floral top and floral boots could have looked a bit twee, but I thought I found just the right print to make it work.
      Enjoy your week x

  7. Oh my gosh, so freakin' beautiful! Not just the boots, but the whole ensemble! The jeans fit you fabulously and look sassy and sexy. The blouse is a beautiful pattern and color. The boots are just the tipping point of making this outfit a serious head-turner. Girl, show them how a 50-something woman can own it!

    1. How lovely of you Julia! I'm always trying to mix things up and am aware that you guys rarely see me in jeans/on my day off, so this is it. The jeans are really, really old and for a long time were way too small to fit me, so it's great to get them out now and find that they fit again. (I wonder if I need to share some of those shots when I was a bit more curvy?)
Anyway, the outfit was created from the boots up, and the top seemed to have similar flowers so it all kinda came together like that. So glad you like it - sassy and nearly sixty, hahaha!

  11. Those boots are so awesome you should walk around nude with just the boots - they are such stars. Um, or not. Hahaha. LOVE LOVE them. Can't wait to see your other pair. When it comes to footwear, we make our rules as we go. Brilliant shirt as too.

  13. They really are fabulous boots - I do that as well: I don't mind spending and splurging a bit when I've thrifted everything else.

I didn't comment on your blogger post, but I did think about it quite a bit, as I've been blogging for a long long time. I'm glad you came to the conclusion that you just have to do you. It is the only way to go.

  14. Anna, thank you for your kind comments. As Sheila said I too am pleased you have decided to continue with your blog on your terms as this is always more genuine. I am like you and either recycle my own or buy from a thrift shop and feel a splurge is fine. The boots are gorgeous , I like with todays outfit and look forward to seeing them again.

    1. Thanks Jill. Sometimes you just have to sound things out, to check if you've got your bearings right. That post was one that I felt driven to write, and I'm really pleased that I did, as it was so good to get all that feedback from my readers.
Glad you like the boots - I hope you like the next fabric ones too!

  15. What fun boots and why shouldn't you treat yourself! I bought some Sharpie pens some time ago with the idea of decorating some shoes as an upcycle project. Sharpies work on most surfaces including leather or canvas. They are alcohol based so waterproof but don't know how they would stand up to gin spillages.

    1. Tessa, that sounds like a great project. I did see that Ann of Kremb de la Kremb had used those on a pair of trainers as a fun upcycle recently. I'm not sure if I'd be confident enough to tackle that myself though. And gin spillage, now that gives me a bit of a personal insight... hahaha x

  16. Sometimes, you just have to bypass the Op Shop and buy something new - and congratulate yourself on the whole budget balance thing!! They are fabulous, Anna (I'd love to see more of them - maybe another outfit coming up? - than just peeping out from your jeans :) And on the subject of jeans, you look fabulous in jeans!! xx

    1. Yes, Elizabeth, I'm feeling pretty good about balancing the books to make this work. I agree that they maybe didn't get the perfect airing, so I'll have to take a look at another post soon. I don't do jeans often, so thanks for that x

  17. Just a teeny suggestion...
Show us a few more "jean looks" PLEASE! You look so HOT in your jeans and for many of us (retired ladies) jeans are a major GO TO in our larder of clothing.

    1. Teeny suggestions are very welcome indeed. I'm normally in work clothes ie smart/funky/classy which is what gets onto the blog the majority of times. But that's not to say I can't show some downtime outfits more often to include jeans etc. You do realise, however, that I don't look that hot in all my jeans! Point taken and gratefully received Judy x
