#Ping Pong Post no 8

Welcome to another edition of Ping Pong Post, the feature where one well travelled item of clothing brings me and my blogging friends together for our monthly style challenge. This month I'm delighted to announce two additional guests to the feature by way of fellow bloggers, Sheela of Sheela Writes and Greetje of No Fear of Fashion. Both Sheela and Greetje have followed the feature with great interest since it started (see here) and were very keen to join in for this special edition.

The dress/tunic this month is from my wardrobe and started its journey from the Isles of Scilly to Holland in April, then travelled to Texas, Hong Kong and finally on to bonnie Scotland a couple of weeks ago before heading back home to me. So let's see what this diverse collection of bloggers made of the green shaggy beast shall we?

Here's Samantha from Fake Fabulous, one of our regulars. This shaggy dress caused quite a dilemma for her, but in the best possible way (I think) as it presented so many possibilities. She opted for a simple, neutral palette to offset what is quite a flamboyant, fuzzy top. Samantha has given this green monster a classy, chic look that I wouldn't have thought possible. Bravo, my dear! Follow Samantha on Instagram here.

Our other regular, the very creative Ann, of Kremb de la Kremb has done her typical Ann thing and turned the piece right on its head, and oh how gorgeous does she make the shaggy shawl look? (Such glowing skin - it shouldn't be allowed!) I love all of the ornate jewellery she has accessorised it with. Go to the top of the class girl! Follow Ann on Instagram here.

And here we have the ever so cool Sheela of Sheela Writes. Sheela lives in Houston, Texas where she exploits her stark, urban backdrop to contrast her downright outrageous outfits. My readers may well think I have an extensive shoe collection, but they really need to check out some of the amazing footwear lurking in this lady's closet! Follow Sheela on Instagram here.

This vision of elegance is Greetje of No Fear of Fashion. Greetje too, has a rather amazing collection of shoes and boots, and these are a particular favourite of mine - those heels are something else aren't they? Greetje features not only her fabulous clothes on the blog, but also the local sights both in Holland as well as on her various trips away with girlfriends that seem to be a regular occurrence (lucky lady). So here we go with my take on this shaggy beast of a top. These shots were taken at the end of March and seemed to be my typical mix of elements that made the outfit very me. However, the fly in the ointment was when Samantha diligently returned the top last week which was a terrible trial for me. You may well have noticed a couple of pairs of jacquard boots making their debut on the blog recently... Well, I really wanted to re-shoot wearing a pair of those, but time and weather put a stop to that. Maybe another day. In the meantime here's how I styled it -

This extended edition has been such great fun. Thanks to all of my blogging friends for taking the time and effort to present their own version of this crazy green top/dress/shawl. It's been really interesting as usual, and I do hope it was worth a visit for you, the reader. Next month we have an offering from Samantha which is currently under the care of Ann as she considers her options. I fancy her creative juices are already flowing with some marvel or other. If you'd like to, then please follow me on Instagram here.

My outfit details are -

I'm asking if I may be excused games tomorrow Miss! Well, what I mean is, I'm having a day off from my regular Friday post, but will be back again on Sunday. Amuse yourself with a dip into some old posts I say, as I'll be setting questions for your assessment soon!

    1. Thanks Andrea, we really love this monthly throwing down of the gauntlet too. I think there may be the odd bit of gnashing of teeth, and stamping around whilst throwing clothes up in the air, but eventually we all settle down and come forth with some rather fab outfits, don't we. I can't wait to get my new boots out and have a play with this.
Thanks for your support and lovely comments x

  3. You didn't disappoint me Anna. Your take on this green object is so you: colourful, creative and out of the box. We have a joint love in the middle between classic and far out (well.. far out for me alone of course, not for you). I admire you a lot for following exactly your own path. It is the only path and the right one. And you amaze me so often with outfits which are so good.
Thank you for making me part of this Ping Pong Post. It has been a real pleasure although I wasn't sure I would let you down or not. Had to laugh when I saw you used that picture of me haha. It was my blooper example. But I agree, you do see the boots best on this one. So please don't change it. (As if you were considering it.)

    1. Greetje this was such fun having you and Sheela on board. I love seeing all the variations that this tunic inspired. This is exactly what PPP is all about - fun and friendship wrapped up in a piece of clothing! This photo of you was my favourite, not because of the boots, but because I love the expression on your face along with that slight tilt of your head - you look relaxed, youthful and so pretty. I don't think you let us down with the challenge at all. Your styling was chic, elegant and in keeping with your personality, so well done!
      Have a great week x

  4. Wow, what an amazing top/dress/vest that is! I would totally wear that - and I agree, Anna, it will be FAB with your brocade boots (of which I am intensely jealous!). I love seeing how everyone styles the garments in these posts - rock on, ladies!

    1. Thanks Sheila. Am wondering how long I have to leave it before I can feature this tunic again? I have a few looks waiting to be aired sitting in my draft box, so will slot that in next month sometime. This has been another fun PPP and full of surprises too!
      Enjoy your weekend x

  5. WOW!!! That dress/tunic/scarf is the definitive, epitome of "textural". I love that you described these ventures as "throwing down the gauntlet"
I love the way each of you was true to your self in your interpretation of a rather tricky (?) piece of clothing. BRAVO TO ALL!!!

    1. Glad you liked it Judy. I didn't realise that some might find this tunic "tricky", yet it surely was. I do think however, that everyone did indeed rise to the challenge and had fun along the way.
Wishing you a lovely weekend x

  8. What a brilliant selection of looks - who would have guessed that this very distinctive garment would have had so many and such diverse applications.

  9. hahaha ;) your green shaggy beast :D looks great on all of you, laddies :) . It's a very bald piece of clothing, so I suppose wherever you go wearing it, it is well remembered. I love the colour of it. Your colourful idea is fantastic :) . Cheers - Margot :)

  11. How interesting the different way everyone has styled what is, essentially, a difficult item of clothing to style as it could be in danger of overpowering the wearer!

Everyone looks great in their outfits but I do like the way that, you particularly, styled it with the fabulous orange trousers and multi-coloured patterned top.

    Have a lovely weekend

    1. It's funny that when I posted this off on its journey, I didn't even consider it might be a difficult piece for the others to style. I'd bought it because it seemed like a fun piece which presented lots of ideas for me - why wouldn't it be the same for everyone else? Hahaha how niave of me! Anyway, I think everyone rose to the challenge beautifully. Thanks for your lovely comments and ongoing support Vronni x

  12. Anna, thank you ever so much for inviting me to be a part of PPP this month. Yes, you're right. I've been watching, nay, stalking this collaboration since its inception. I think it's genius, so you can imagine how absolutely ecstatic I was to receive that initial email from you :) I too was terribly flummoxed when this shaggy number arrived in the mail but thank the lord for white picket fences and happy endings. I had SO MUCH fun xoxo

    1. When I came up with the idea for PPP, this was the kind of feature I envisaged - an item that challenged everyone initially, but brought out the best eventually and gave us all a bit of a laugh too. I'm delighted at how this project is shaping up and hope we can do more like this in the future. I'm so pleased you enjoyed it x
      Have a great weekend!
