These next couple of weeks are the best ever for bringing out the sparkle without looking the least bit out of place. My wardrobe is pretty well stocked with sequins, lurex, velvet and metallic shoes of every hue, all primed for stepping out over the festive season. But before I go any further I'll let you know that my outfit for Friday's party was the blue dress. I spent most of the day thinking I was going to wear my Friday's suggestion see here. It was only on Friday evening when I saw a TV presenter wearing a red sequin dress that I realised how effective that simple shape with a riot of sequins could look. It's about perspective sometimes isn't it? I was too close to see how lovely this was I suppose. Anyway I paired it up with the shoes and bag from the other outfit and bang, that was my party outfit. I went along with Kate, my utterly gorgeous niece and we had a lovely evening. Sorry Judy, for the lack of photos but my camera was at home on charge!
Friday was also Christmas Jumper Day here in the UK, a great fundraiser event in aid of Save the Children. The workforce from the island is encouraged to don their best Christmas jumper for a photo shoot followed by donations to the cause accompanied by all sorts of delicious cakes and mincepieces.
If you're having problems finding me, just follow the ladies striking a pose in the name of blogging and I'm to the right - thanks gals for entering into the spirit of things!
Today's outfit is a mixture of old and new. The new, being these beautiful velvet trousers which come from F&F at Tesco's in the recent sale for only £9 and the old being this gold lurex cardigan which is so old I can't recall where I bought it. My sister Sandra gave me the lovely silk blouse which ties in with all of the luxurious fabrics. The gold loafers are from New Look (old), the rings too are old/charity shopped and the sunglasses are from Quay Australia.
Tuesday will be the 20th of the month and therefore time for another edition of Ping Pong Post. The festive item being styled is a fabulous sequined top from Ann in Hong Kong and I do hope you'll come back to see how we did.

You look fabulous in your blue frock. I really like the collar on today's outfit too!x
ReplyDeleteDear Kezzie, thanks so much. Sorry I've not been across to comment recently - life's suddenly a tad hectic!

I'm delighted you wore the blue dress for your party! That was my favourite : )
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you chose to do the ugly Christmas sweater and not the Reindeer Boob. Not sure if you're aware of that trend...but it is super tacky! Google it. I take no responsibility for you being offended though.
bisous
Suzanne
The blue dress seemed to get the most votes so it's only right I was swayed by that. I'm really pleased that I wore it and won't have to feel guilty when I come across it in the wardrobe now.
DeleteNo, I've not heard of this lastest trend. I'd better get on and have a look though!
Have a fab Christmas week x
Anna
The blue was my favorite too as you know. It sounds like a fun night! Thanks for showing up the jumpers too. So interesting to have this insight into your country! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that the favourite did win though for everyone - it seemed to have the most impact in the photos didn't it?
DeleteWill catch up with your news soon Julia. In the meantime do have a fab Christmas week x
Anna
The outfit with the fab blue sequin dress was my fave too and the one I would have chosen to wear. Shoes are gorgeous but I couldn't wear them for long.
ReplyDeleteThe one I liked second best was the second outfit in the sequence.
Very pretty silk blouse under the leopard cardi. The cardi suits your colouring well. Now going to google reindeer boob!
Tessa xx
Thanks so much Tessa. I really didn't notice the shoes, so I must be used to still wearing heels - I've heard that the problem comes from stopping wearing them for ages and then trying to walk in stillettos again.
DeleteI too need to google reindeer boob!
Wishing you a lovely Christmas week x
Anna
I bet you looked gorgeous in your party gear!
ReplyDeleteThese velvet trousers are rather special; I like the looseness and of course the velvet! The cardigan is great; I just love an animal print. I'm currently trying to track down an animal print blouse/shirt in the charity shops.
You mentioned you had lots of sparkle in your wardrobe - I don't. I have three tops with sequins two of which I wore to Christmas functions. I have one metallic type skirt and no metallic shoes. I do fancy a sequinned skirt though so I'll have to add that to my list of items to look out for.
I'm looking forward to the PPP - it seems ages since the lastone.
xx
I do wonder that sometimes my wardrobe is a bit overdone with fancy outfits and a bit lightweight in casual ones. I think it's down to me loving the whole dressing up better than anything else. I'm not sure I'll even be able to get all of the sparkly things shown over the next couple of weeks, but I'll give it a damn good try!
DeleteSee you Tuesday then x

Yahoo for the blue!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt really is a smashing little festive frock!! More importantly you look really beautiful in it Anna!!
Couldn't you also put your beautiful bomber jacket over it and pull it off as a skirt with your madly delicious floral brocade boots????
The group of islanders in their holiday jumpers brought a smile to my face. Mainly because this sort of thing is going on everywhere Christmas is celebrated. It just has a world community/humanity vibe.
Your black velvet trousers are yummy, you just look so softly feminine and lovely.
The sequin blue dress and velvet pant/white embroidered collar blouse are the yin & yang of Anna's Island Style!
Happiest of Holidays to you and your family Anna!!!
Such a lovely positive response Judy! And yes, your idea of the jacket and boots over the blue dress would work too, I'm sure. We women are fickle at the best of times, and I'm just a little more so with my varied styles. Thanks so much for all of your lovely comments, and happy holidays to you too!

I'm glad you wore the blue sequined dress - it really is spectacular on you, Anna! Funny how we can lose that "fresh" eye when looking at our clothes. I love the Christmas jumper picture - those are some interesting looks, ha!
ReplyDeleteThere was a definite wave of support for the blue dress which I really couldn't deny, and I'm really so pleased that it went that way. Yes, the Christmas jumpers are so varied aren't they?
DeleteAnna x
HAPPY CHRISTMAS, Anna, thanks for your wonderful posts. xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas to you too Elizabeth. Thank you for your support and comments x

It had to be! Just so perfect on you Anna. I missed the velvet trousers in the sale. F&F have some fab bargains at the moment. I love the Gold Loafers your wearing.

So very kind Laurie. F&F is one of my favourite places to shop once I've exhausted all of the thrifting in Truro or once the charity shops are all closed, whichever comes first! Pre-sale prices are always good, but the sale prices do indeed rival some of the local charity shops and the quality is getting better and better.

Smashing, Anna! Gorgeous. Excellent choice. And the velvet trousers look like pure luxury. What a great deal!
ReplyDeleteI went with the popular choice Melanie and was really pleased that I did in the end. The fabric of the trousers does look and feel really luxurious - amazing for a supermarket brand eh? And yes, what a bargain too, ker-ching!
