Autumn burst of colour

Yes, I've rifled my draft box again to bring you this wonderful burst of colour. Orange is one of my favourite colours, making me feel energetic and bright. As I write this, the outlook here is grey and overcast which is reason enough to bring these photos out. These are my winter shorts, made all the more wearable by the fact that I can add all sorts of crazy tights to add a bit more of a pop - these ones are a heavy denier in a mid purple which may look blue on your screen.

My regulars amongst you may have noticed that I was conspicuous by my absence on Friday, and this could be due to the fact that I paid a fleeting visit to my daughter on the mainland. The couple of days went past in a blur of shopping (Christmas and charity), hair and beauty appointments and catching up with Sasha in the evenings. I'd like to say that I'm flushed with success, but there always seems to be something I forget in these shopping sprees, and this time it was the cards and wrapping paper. So it looks like I'll be online later to remedy that.

Here's a not very good shot of my loot. The major find has to be the 80's black dress with fabulous gold ruffle hem. I also bought an ostrich leather handbag in fuchsia to match my winter coat, to be featured in close-up soon.

Details of my outfit of the day are - shorts (old): Asos, blouse: eBay, fairisle vest: Ralph Lauren, boots: Asos, tights: old, sunglasses Quay Australia, rings: old.

  3. How beautifully coordinated you are in your orange and blue! Very cheerful and autumnal. The shorts look more like a short skirt with kick pleat and I really like how you've matched blue tights with the shorts and boots. I love your boots as you know and mine have now arrived; I love them...

You look to have got some wonderful things on your mainland visit - can't wait to see some of them on your posts.

    Have a great week, Anna

  5. Orange is also one of my favorites and is sort of the definitive bright color (don't you think?). I also feel lucky to look good in orange although I look horrible in the close cousin of bright sunflower yellow (go figure).
You are just stunningly fun in this outfit Anna! It's so exciting and bold but every piece perfect in hue and pattern.
There is one measure that is troubling me and that is the length of the shorts. I feel like they cut you off in a less than flattering spot. Does the little cuff on them fold down? I'm probably full of beans on this... but just a thought.

    1. I'm glad we agree that orange is such brilliant colour Judy. As for the length of the shorts, that's fine for you to say. I think they would look much better if my legs were 6 inches longer, but can't see that happening any time soon! That aside, I actually like how my legs look for once as the width of the shorts help my thighs look much less chumfy than usual. The cuff won't be coming down - I'm happy with them as they are, but thanks for the comments anyway x

    1. Thanks for your comments Anna. This was one of my favourite outfits as I said, and the whole mix of patterns were part of that. The tights were the final bit of fun. Bold, brave or crazy, who can say?

  7. Hi Anna,
I discovered your blog through Kezzie. Love your colourful style and seeing your wonderful island... blue skies on a grey December day are so uplifting. I've never visited but my brother has enjoyed many holidays there and adores it.

Angie is a lovely English woman who is usually next to me in Yoga class. This past Monday I caused her to fall right out of "downward dog" telling her about your chumfy thighs! =)
