Welcome again to our monthly global style challenge. I can't believe a month has gone past since our pre-Christmas offering where we three dazzled and sparkled as a starter to the festivities (see it here). But January is rushing past us, and I for one am not sorry to see it depart. This month my blogging partners in crime, Samantha and Ann, have accepted my challenge to style this black and gold top which as been forgotten in the back of my wardrobe for the past couple of years. Click here to find out how this whole shenanigans started.
Ann confessed that New Year's Eve party was what came to mind when she was styling this black and gold top. Hong Kong no doubt offers all sorts of celebrations on the biggest night of the year and Ann wouldn't have lacked a choice of venues in this hot mama look! Maybe I could've joined her in my mini skirt and glitter tights outfit too (here) to dance the night away.
Details -
Sunnies--Tom Ford
Hoops--from Bombay
Necklace--Kowloon
Top--Anna's
Waistbag --ASOS
Skirt & Tights--Zara
OTK Boots--Ash
Samantha is playing it cool here. Put a hat on this lady and you can't fail to be bowled over by her cute features atop immaculate styling. The longer I know her, the more I adore her fun, quirky twists - the cap, the statement necklace, those boots. This girl can do no wrong.

Boots: Clarks
Trousers: I can’t remember!
Leatherette Top: DIY from a dress.
Top: Anna’s
Cap: Gents section at TKmax
Necklace: Oliver Bonas
My styling starts with a coat on and unfolds from there. Oh, and it was windy!
These shots were taken on a blustery evening at the start of October just before I sent the top on its trip across the globe. It was cold enough to warrant a coat and this fake fur was a good shape to showcase the sleeves of the top as well as the elegant shape of the skirt. My tapestry boots had literally arrived that very day and Polly was the first to see them out of the box. Without the boots the outfit may well have been very monotone, so it was a case of perfect timing as far as I was concerned. This whole look is very me - not in the least understated - with every bell and whistle you could conjure up.

I love all of these looks - you all rock them in such fun ways. Anna, we have a matching skirt! Here's to women in black skirts with dots! Happy weekend, my dear.
ReplyDeleteI love all of these looks too Sheila. It's great to be involved in this kind of creative challenge every month, although next month's was more difficult than ever.
DeleteThanks for your lovely comments and have a great weekend too!

I was telling Samantha how I love this series for the 3 of us. In all fairness, it could be because it reminds me of the 3 of us and our themes!! But still---I do love it no matter the why!
ReplyDeleteMy first impression of your outfit was that it was a dress, Anna!! What a fabulous way to transform this blouse!!

Jodie, I must admit I think of you three often when we're throwing down the next challenge. It's interesting how personal style can change the interpretation of a the same piece.
DeleteI'm delighted he skirt and top worked so well together - I can understand it could look like a dress. Thanks for your positive support as always.
Have a great weeekend x
Anna
Three very different looks - all fab! I think Samantha's was my favourite; I absolutely loved her leather top - of course it was green...
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous bag you found, the boots are wonderful and I loved your skirt.
xxxx
Veronica, I have to say I agree with you too - Samantha really did come up trumps by adding that leather vest, it was a masterstroke.
DeleteThe clutch was a lucky find and will be so useful I'm sure. Thanks for dropping by x
Wishing you a lovely weekend!
Anna
WOW!! You ladies set a very high bar with your styling ingenuity. What is REALLY CLEAR to me is that you all do a great job of applying skillful "fashioning" with tweeks, knowledge and creativity. But in the end you very skillfully make the item speak YOUR NAME and YOUR OWN individuality and unique style. Each of you is so comfortably "at home" in the look you create.
ReplyDeleteAND THE LOOKS ARE FABULOUS!!
I have to agree with you Judy that we do all look very at home in our outfits, which is very gratifying. I never know if my item will be happily received or if it will be a headache for the others to style up.
DeleteNext month's piece from Sam really did challenge me and is not a reveal I'm looking forward to!
Wishing you a great weekend x
Anna

Me too Sam, I love them all. It's great that we end up with so very diverse looks, and all showing us as individuals. It's a brilliant challenge to have this come up month after month, pushing us out of our comfort zone sometimes too...
DeleteSee you next month with that tricky piece of yours!
Enjoy your weekend x
Anna
I really love this ping pong post! Well, actually, I love them all... :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you all came up with very different outfits. Your pattern mixing is fabulous, and the shoes are the perfect finishing touch to the outfit. How lucky that you received them that day!

It's wonderful to have such support for this monthly feature of ours - thanks so much Andrea. We do have great fun with this, and one of these days we're surely going to end up with an identical styling across the board, that would be a laugh!

wowww, such an elegant outfit, with a twist!. I like particularly your floral boots into this combo, as they enhance the whole ensemble!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulously elegant and cool!
besos
Thanks Monica, I think the boots were the right thing to stop this look being to "safe". I could see that they would appeal to your love of colour too.
DeleteSo kind of you to drop by x
Anna

Thanks so much Rachel, so kind!

I think that is so funny that you say without the boots it would be very monotone! This would be one of my most non-monotone outfits! I love it and I love the setting. October looks so beautiful where you live. Julia
