Midweek can sometimes be a bit blah for me clothes-wise. The start of the week usually prompts a surge of enthusiasm to find a fab outfit to set the right tone. Likewise, come Friday I have another boost at the thought of the weekend which acts to spur me on to delve deep and find something inspiring. But midweek is neither fish nor foul if you get my drift. However I've never worn this wonderful charity shop find before, even though I bought it during my autumn shopping spree. The jacket is from Planet and was a snip at a fiver. Five pounds could buy you a cup of tea and a sandwich and for the same money I've got this beautiful woollen jacket - wow!
I paired the jacket with my harem pants from TK Maxx, slipped a thin thermal top underneath (from M&S) and finished with my gorgeous wedges from Office. The rings are charity shopped, the gold chain was a gift and I'm wearing my old faithful sunnies by Quay Australia.
I'm back from Harrogate, flushed with success from not only my business buying trip, but also from my personal shopping trip too. The Britishi Craft Trade Fair is where I find the design led gifts, jewellery and ceramics for the gallery as well as being a source of new talent from emerging artists who bring all sorts of novel ideas to the fore at these events. I never know what I'm going to find which is all part of the fun. See the full report here as well as the scoop on my purchases.

I love that classy jacket - I have had several Planet pieces (they're sold in a corner of one of the department stores here) over the years and they are very nice quality. The drop-crotch pants and booties are unexpected funky - you look awesome in this, Anna!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first Planet piece I've had and it really like it. I tried to mix the conservative with the not-so-conservative here, and I'm pleased at how it worked too.

This jacket looks great paired with the pants. I know you say Wednesday is a blah day but I'd say this is a pretty great outfit! You're just used to lots of colors and bling so just plain old black and white seems tame to you but approachable for me! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteYou're probably right with what you say about me and colours, although I'm working at wearing black more often as I like how it looks on other women. Sometimes I feel stylish and others it just makes me feels a bit bland. However, I'm pleased that this look is approachable - that's great.

Great.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Regine.

I've been intrigued by the harem pant concept for quite some time. I've not seen anyone wear them in my little world. They just don't seem to have caught on much.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is great on you Anna! All at once classy and funky. The pants have a lovely outside drape and the extra fabric at the ankle is very cool.

DeleteLots of errors in my first attempt Jude!
DeleteAnyway, the harem pant is a bit alternative which obviously appeals to me especially here where I wanted to jazz up this pretty conservative jacket. I really like its unstructured look and feel - maybe you ought to try it?

Superb jacket..(what a bargain!) and the harem pants add an unexpected element and look great on you... they'd make me look like the back of a bus! I love that fabulous emerald cut ring, I can never find rings to fit me in the chazzas.
ReplyDeleteA request. Could you do your next photoshoot at your local dump... if you have anything that unsightly on the Scillies, because I'm always distracted by the beautiful backgrounds in your shots and the outfit doesn't always get my initial attention!!! xx
The jacket was indeed a great bargain. And as for the harem pants, well that's pretty much why you don't get a rear view shot of me cos I too look like the back of a bus in them! I'm nothing if not honest.
DeleteWill give you a guided tour of the dump one day when I'm out and about...

I really like this combo - the tailored jacket with the drop crotch pants and then those funky boots. It's so eclectic and everything sings so well together. Right on. I understand what you say about the mid-week situation. I don't have a fixed weekend, but I still fall into the routine. This outfit is the perfect antidote to carry on.
ReplyDeleteCheers for this Melanie. I do love the classic shape of the jacket, but was worried that the monochrome look might end up a bit tame, hence the harem pants to liven things up. Plus the wedges stop me looking overwhelmed by all that material. Eclectic was of course the intention all along!

I love me a pair of harems, I used to buy silk ones by the kilo in India years ago. I must get a few more, they're so comfy!
ReplyDeleteLove how the black ones look on you and the contrast between the tailored Chanel-esque jacket, wild platform boots and the hippy-tastic bottoms. Fab styling! xxx
Those silk ones sound fantastic.
DeleteThanks for dropping by Vix and for your vote of support - it wasn't my most favourite of looks, but got me out to work which was the important thing!
Have a great week x
Anna
That is a super classy jacket! I think I would have pounced on that if I saw it in a charity shop!
ReplyDeleteIt was such a lucky find Kezzie, I'm delighted with it, but will pass it on to you if I ever tire of it x

Anna, even on your not so fun day you look so effortlessly stylish and very fashionable. Can't imagine you paid five buck for such a gorgeous jacket. Paring it with the harem pants takes the whole outfit out of the box
