The corset belt with jumpsuit

A little bit of sunshine, a favourite jumpsuit, some sparkly mules and that corset belt again - and I'm giddy with excitement! It's positively ages since I featured this lovely jumpsuit on the blog and golly I'd forgotten how fab all this floaty fabric feels.

Ooooo look - I'm even able to tap dance all of a sudden - how magical is this outfit!

I swoop, I shimmy, I glide with grace!

Oh goodness, I'm a bit dizzy now!

Anyhoo, here's that old corset belt again in another styling. What do you think? It's all about contrasting once more, silky fabric cinched with bold, statement corset in a sweet meets tough kinda way. Not to everyone's taste probably, but my appeal is not necessarily to the masses but more for the slightly off-centre, quirky type perhaps.

My style guru, Mary Portas, advises only one statement piece per ensemble, but hey you know me - more is more is another of my motto's! A huge corset belt is going to look even more awesome if you pair it with a jumpsuit with sail-like trousers and then throw in a pair of eye-popping turquoise glitter mules. Not a look for the shy and retiring that's for sure!

The details go like this: jumpsuit from H&M (ancient), belt from Primark, jewellery, all preloved, sunglasses by Quay Australia, and mules by Shellys of London.

As the UK heatwave continues I've enjoyed wafting about in this most flamboyant get up. Just another day in the life of this gallery manager cum fashion blogger. I do hope you've enjoyed today's offering and would love to hear from you if you did. Drop me a line, add a comment (you can remain anonymous if you prefer), but do let me know you're still around.

Wishing you a fab week!

  1. Love those sparkly shoes and how they match perfectly with your jumpsuit.

I used to be the person that thought only one statement piece was needed per outfit. I'm so happy I got over that! Haha!

    1. Hey Suzanne I love that quote! I must admit I seem to be evolving into a larger than life dresser, but then again I ask myself "why not?".
      Have a great weekend!

  2. Well, if there is any doubt about you taking your colourful outfits to your day job, I've popped in to the gallery and seen for myself that style is what you do, each and every day and even on the dull-weather days!
Love the green and blue profusion you're wearing today. You know, I feel a 70s party vibe coming from that jumpsuit. I'd love to see it without the t shirt and with mountainous platform heels! Can you do that for me? Pretty please?

    1. Mary I'm so glad that you can testify to my every day dressing up ritual! I wish I could accommodate you with your request, but what you don't see here is a back view of this outfit, and that's because the jumpsuit has a very scooped back which would be bra-revealing without a tee shirt. I'll work on your request though and see if I can offer a solution of sorts.
      Big hugs right back!

  4. You are a joy to behold!! I love the outfit, and I think the cinched waist gives this jumpsuit a whole new cool, sexy, funky, and on trend vibe!! The fact that this outfit brought you new dance skills simply cannot be overlooked!!
IDEA: Perhaps you can find narrow ribbon lacing to adapt this wonderful belt to all sorts of other looks in your closet. Not really necessary but might be fun!
You make me feel more so joyful with this post. :-)

    1. I'm delighted to have you read joyful with this ensemble Jude. And I love your suggestion about changing the laces in the belt - I'll keep my eye out for something suitably inspiring. It's great when an outfit causes my readers to give me some suggestions - this then becomes much more interactive and fun!

      Have a fab weekend!

  5. I like Jude's idea of changing out the lace in the belt - it's still not ringing my bell, though. I appreciate the contrast with the gloriously coloured jumpsuit and those glitter shoes, but it still feels jarring to me, like a big brick in the middle of a garden.

Shoes cannot possibly be too glittery! It must be in the air - I'm wearing gold glitter shoes today!

    1. Oh Sheila, I do so love to gain your approval with my offerings, but I can see I'll have to work much harder with this belt - back to the drawing board eh? At least we agree on the joys of the glitter shoe though!

My visit to you is long overdue my sweet!

  6. Love your colorful jumpsuit and the glitter shoes, such a fab combo!, and you look so fabulous in the breeze, like dancing in your flowy pants!, lots of attitude!
I would prefer a matching belt, as I love co-ordinated outfits, but I appreciate that you created contrast and interest and finally I like it!. It's probably an acquired taste!

    1. Thanks as ever for all your lovely supportive comments Monica! I can see this belt has caused some concern, but I do like to challenge our perceptions as to what's okay and what's not - a corset belt is pretty much a marmite piece anyway, never mind me styling it as I have! It's great to have created such lively debate at least.

      Have a wonderful weekend!

  7. I love that you dress for you and have an absolute blast doing it! If I saw you out and about I'd take you by the arm, drag you to the nearest pub knowing that we'd get along like a house on fire. xxx

    1. Dearest Vix, now this is a response I can live with! I couldn't think of anything more fun than hooking up with you for a bit of a session! We are pretty similar I think in our view to dressing and I've admired your vintage style for a long time. Let's check our diaries to see if we can make this meet-up happen!

      Have a great weekend!
