August and another show night

Hello and how are you? We're all well thanks. Here's a shot of me from last night's reception party at the gallery with artists Flynn O'Reilly (left) and Ramie Leahy at the end of a busy evening. The time just flew by as we welcomed guests from both Tresco and Bryher to join us for wine and canapes and to chat to the artists about their work (see the show in full, here).

Ramie uses this quaint mode of transport to carry his art supplies and paintings as well as get him about when he's on the island. He has become a regular sight during the summertime over the past couple years.

You may remember this lace jumpsuit (by Darling, London) from last year. I bought it from TK Maxx and this year found these new shoes from there too. See the funky heel in the next shot.

The brand is Xti TENTATIONS. The heels are decorated in tiny sparkling jewels of black, silver and bronze and the main part of the shoe is in sparkly silver. The block heel makes for a comfy and stable height which is just what I needed at the end of a long working day.

My jewellery is a mish mash of old, gifted and preloved pieces along with my pink elasticated belt.

Show number four of six had me recycling a party outfit which wasn't really what I had planned. The slightly overcast weather forced me to change my mind at the last minute from a chiffon beaded number that I'd done some last minute adjusting to in readiness for the party but hey, I can always wear it next time, eh? I also have a vintage two piece in silk which I've been saving for a special event so you will see that before the exhibition period is over too.

And finally, here's the line-up of lovelies from last night. My thanks go to (l to r) Ruth, Max, Polly and Tash for all the front of house and behind the scenes work that ensured another successful evening. Four down and two to go and they're still smiling. Thanks ladies!

Until next time, take care!

  1. I do recall that lovely, lacey, red-orange jumpsuit and you still look smashing in it. How wonderful that your work requires/ permits you to snazz it up for these special events Anna! I've never really had the opportunity to wear these kinds of delicious dresses on anything but rare occasions. That's the reason I get extra joy out of seeing you and the pleasure you get from dressing so beautifully and creatively.
I wonder if a DIY project could be inspired by those great beaded heels?

    1. Dressing up on exhibition nights has to be the best perk of the job! Finding something fancy to wear to these events every 10 days is great fun and lets me scour that corner of my wardrobe which houses all my finery. I even have a few beautiful ball gowns waiting for their turn ... I love the idea of a DIY project but time is the issue currently.

      Have a good week!

  2. Those show nights are certainly keeping you on your toes! Your lacy jumpsuit is fantastic. I once coveted a coat by Darling, London, and I'm still regretting not buying it. I'm looking forward to seeing the vintage silk two piece ... xxx

    1. Oh Ann, how I hate that sense of regret. All it does though is to sharpen your senses for the next time you go clothes shopping so that the same thing doesn't happen again. Look out for that two piece soon!

      Enjoy your week!

    1. A whirlwind is a pretty accurate description Sheila! It was no hardship bringing this orange jumpsuit into play again as I love it. I fancy I may need another belt to use in rotation with this pink one though - it may be suffering over exposure.

      Have a super week,

    1. So good to have your response to this Monica. I do love this jumpsuit too, but don't have many other chances to wear it, so this was great to bring it out again.

The girls are radiant aren't they!

      Have a fab weekend!

  5. What a fantastic jumpsuit! And the heels of those sandals! Very special.
I love jumpsuits but they don’t love me back. With no hips or bum I look ridiculous in them. Believe me I tried. But I am wise, I leave them to women who do suit them like you, and wear things that make me look good 😇.
