Welcome to this month's style challenge!
A very warm welcome to you from our Style Not Age Collective, which seems even more important than ever this month. We all are in need of a bit of a distraction from our new reality and I hope that this colourful line-up with provide just that. Gail chose the theme this time so let's see what she came up with herself.
I totally love this combination of denim and fuchsia - it really pops. Catch up with Gail on her blog Is This Mutton for more about this fabulous outfit.
Jacqui's showcasing this new denim boilersuit from Matalan. A dash of glamour comes by way of her rainbow shoes. See more from her on Mummabstylish blog.
Sleek as ever in denim, Hilda is striding out in style with leopard print and fur gilet too - such a funky combination for our blogger Over the Hilda.
Emma's Style Splash plumped for a brilliant splash of pink as well as leopard print to go with her denim jacket to stunning effect. Do swing by the blogs to read the back stories for each of these outfits this month.
And so on to my offering. The only new piece were my jeans (TK Maxx) which are actually quite old now. The silk kimono cost me £3 in a charity shop in Truro a couple of years ago, the red leather cowboy boots were another charity shop buy as was the denim shirt and red leather belt.
As for my jewellery, the rings are both charity shop finds too.
Let's please just take a moment to admire my haircut shall we? I only draw your attention to it, as from here on it's all downhill! My social circle comprises now of my husband and my son, neither of whom are going to be able to help me maintain a spiffy old haircut for the next 3-6 months. Boooo-hooo! I do love to have a sharp haircut and wonder what my hair will look like at the end of this. I know I'm not alone with this and to be perfectly honest think it's good to have something so minor to focus on in the current climate. I've seen self haircut tutorials cropping up across social media and will probably have to avail myself of these to cut my fringe, but I fancy that once it's too long to resemble a style, I'll just have to scoop it up in a pony tail. And let's see how many grey hairs populate my hair colour within the next 6 months too...
And finally, here's yet another pair of new sunglasses from Radley London. I thought the colour was good for this denim feature today.
Thanks for joining us today. I hope our colourful offerings will help to brighten your day. As ever, I would urge you to stay home, stay safe and don't put anyone at risk through reckless or selfish actions. There's still an element of society who seem to think that the safety guidelines seem to apply to others and not them. I somehow feel that my readership aren't of this ilk, but if you know someone who's flouting the rules, then do call them out - it might just save lives.
Anna x
so well put together. I love this whole look Anna. I haven't been to the hairdressers for twelve years. I cut and colour my own and that's bonus to me. Keep safe and well xx
ReplyDeleteLaurie, I'm so impressed that you do your own hair - I often think it's more like a lion's mane - it's so gorgeous! Well done you x
DeleteGorgeous blast of red and love the embroidery on the jeans and kimono.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gail. I was rather pleased with the tie in between kimono and jeans x
DeleteI especially like the bright shots of pink and the reds with the denim.I do like embroidery on a jacket, a silk kimono, what a find!! I have some very aged denim trousers that I use for gardening, just gone thro on one of the knees. They are washed and ready for a bit of appliqued colour. Its turned cooler here and I don't want draughts on the knee.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what a happy find this kimono was! I don't wear it often, but it's always a transforming piece within an outfit.
DeleteI like the idea of your repairs to your gardening trews - fab x
Anna, this outfit just made me smile so big! I love all the red and how each piece you are wearing makes such a gorgeous statement! I am feeling inspired to put actual clothes on now (I haven’t gotten dressed in two weeks!) Stay safe and healthy!

Shelbee, I do so understand how easy it can be to stop getting dressed during the lockdown period. On day two I almost decided to stop wearing make-up and slouch about at home in my PJ's but I knew it wouldn't help my mental well being. Now I'm allowing myself a PJ day once a week and that suits me better.
DeleteIt's great that you enjoyed this outfit. Now do the same for yourself and find something nice to wear tomorrow so that you cheer yourself up every time you pass a mirror x
Love the whole look Anna, the sublte red goes so well with the blue denim. Hope you are staying safe and well my friend. Jacqui x
ReplyDeleteI do so love to create a narrative with my clothes Jacqui and this just came together beautifully x
DeleteAnna, you have brightened my Monday with your blue and red combo. Loving it all, the kimono and the jeans with the embroidery particularly. And good advice in these challenging times. x
ReplyDeleteIt's been lovely to have this feature to work towards Hilda - a deadline to work towards when our other normal timetable has gone. I loved all of our pieces being so different!
DeleteOh, I love this wonderful outfit - you had me at embroidery! I will just take that jacket right now, please! I love the slightly urban cowgirl look you have going on here, Anna.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you - we're all going to come out of this with "interesting" hair! Ha!
Urban cowgirl - I like that, thanks! My outfits are always very organic which can even surprise me sometimes.
DeleteI wonder if I'll resort to some home hairdressing as time progresses... x
I love all of the outfits here! And I am not even a denim fan! I needed a haircut when the lock down started, so now I do badly need one! I hate it, my nails need to be done too! Well, Lets just make sure we stay healthy!
ReplyDeleteI can't say I'm much of a denim fan either, hence my fancy jeans to life them out of the ordinary.
DeleteYes, hair and nails will just have to be clean so long as we're healthy!
Such a lovely outfit, I love the red and denim combo and also love all the embroidered details and the cute boots!, you've created a fabulous ensemble!
ReplyDeleteSo cool and colorful!!
Lovely to read your posts, and totally agree that we're going to miss our hairstylists a lot! (and that some frivolity doesn't harm!, we need a pinch of humour too!)
besos
Thanks Monica. A dash of colour never goes amiss does it?
DeleteI'll miss my visits to the hairdresser from the social point of view too x
I already expressed my love for this outfit on Instagram, but I will repeat it here: it is absolutely gorgeous! I've always loved denim with red! The embroidery on both the jeans and the kimono take it to another level. Just lovely! I'm hearing you on the hair! Having a short hairdo myself, I'm not sure how it's going to look in a couple of months time. I usually get desperate after 4 weeks! xxxx
ReplyDeleteI must admit this was the first time I've put denim and red together and it's had a lovely reception from my readers.
DeleteI'm a 6 week haircut girl, so goodness knows what anything beyond that will look! xxx
Oh! I definitely like your look in red! compliments :)
