Six do a style link up

Today I've been asked to join five other fashionistas who all have their very own strong sense of style. It's such a lovely opportunity to be asked to take part in this link up. Please take a moment to check out their blogs.

The theme of the link up is four colours or more which lends itself to quite different interpretations - some have taken a very colourful spin whereas I've gone along the lines of playing with neutrals with prints. My ensemble is a mix of vintage and old faithfuls such as these tartan tights which made their debut in my very first post in May of 2015 as seen here. The dress is a vintage piece from Marks and Spencer when their branding was St Michael which I bought from eBay some time ago. The quality is superb, it's fully lined and the stitching and finish is perfect. I've added my net underskirt to give it a bit of body and show off the fullness of the skirt. As the dress is such a simple, classic style I've added this cream jacket which relies on lots of pleating and a great cut to give it a bit of pzazz. The conservative nature of the dress was what gave birth to the notion of tartan tights with the leopard print shoes and belt. I finished off the look with my gorgeous orange and gold necklace by Magpie Vintage. The piece is made up of recycled vintage jewellery which is remodelled into a contemporary shape.

It's amazing how the time has flown past since starting my blog, and how my closet has offered up such such a collection of outfits, some of which have been quite a surprise to me sometimes. The fun of sharing with friends and family was initially all I had hoped for, but over these months my world has expanded to encompass fashion bloggers from all across the globe. These fashionistas also have a driving passion for dressing up and are quite happy to trade ideas and discuss the minutiae of what makes a perfect outfit - it's been a wonderful discovery for me.

  3. I never realised the many intricate details of your jacket, Anna, and am only now able to fully appreciate that origami-esque trim on the right. How perfect, reminiscent of Miyake and his mastery with pleats. I was just remarking to Eve how charming your style is. Classic with a very whimsical twist, and how beautifully you played up this entire outfit with plaid leggings as well as exotic animal heels :) thank you for being a part of this style challenge, Anna, it was such fun having you. And I am really enjoying your writing. Outfit posts become so much more when accompanied with meatier content xoxo

I love your dress (such a classic shape!) and the mix of leopard and plaid is amazing - I am too chicken to try that much pattern-mixing! Thank you, Anna, for your fun comments! I enjoy seeing someone new to blogging's perspective! :)

  8. Hi Anna! I was just commenting on Ann's post about being envious of her plaid pants. I also told a story about how I lost the chance to own a pair of plaid pants when I was in Tokyo a couple of months ago - which I'll tell you now, if you don't mind! Well, I don't speak Japanese and the girl working in the shop didn't understand English. The shop's fitting room had a '3 item only' policy, so she hung those plaid pants outside my door while I tried on other things. But when I came out, the pants were gone, and somehow another customer was already paying for those pants at the cashier! They were the last pair, too. I remember being sad, but, well, things happen. The reason I'm telling you this story is the pattern on your plaid tights are almost exactly like the pants in that shop in Tokyo! Imagine that pattern on your tights, in those colours, on Ann's pants, and those were like the exact pants that I "lost". So funny how both of you reminded me of what had happened two months ago!
Anyway, my point is, I love your tights! I'm definitely on a hunt for a pair of plaid pants in the same colour. I happen to have a leopard print waist belt like yours, and I do own leopard loafers, but what I do NOT have is leopard pumps like the ones you have on. Probably going to be hunting for those, too...

    1. These tights are really old, but I do love them to pep up something that may lack a bit of punch. That's such a drag that you lost those pants. I think we've all got a story like that. I recently found a pair just as you described on eBay. They were by River Island, but weren't my size. I would suggest you keep scouring eBay for them as it can take months for things to emerge again, but don't give up. I'm still doing the same as I only have a black and white tartan pair, but want red ones too. Let me know if you ever find some, and I'll do the same for you. Happy New Year x

  10. What fun Anna, you're all so wonderfully different. Your jacket is a figure-flattering masterpiece, and the additional volume of a net underskirt really adds drama to your dress (I was just looking at a simplicity pattern for tulle skirts yesterday - I feel I'm about to succumb).
Belated Happy New Year by the way,

    1. Yes, that's the great thing Sally, that we're all so different. Which is the essence of blogging isn't it? Your blog is so very individual which, I'm sure, will keep attracting new readers for that very reason. Happy New Year to you too and I'm just hopping across to see what you've been up to x

  11. I love your color/pattern play combo Anna! You're always so very classy, yet always with a little touch of quirk--here the leopard and plaid peek-a-boo. It's interesting how much in common we have with each other's outfits, but both patterns have such versatility. Like Samantha, I would like to try some tartan tights! This was fun Anna. I love getting to know you more and more.

    Love, Ann
