Gold sequins, gold heels

Sunday's blue sequin dress was really well received, so much so that I feel a bit nervous about today's outfit. All of this week's outfits were captured in the same photo shoot, and I must admit that this one was my favourite. It felt more elegant, less over-the-top-party-animal I suppose. Friday's offering is very different again, but let's not get ahead of ourselves shall we?

I really like the slightly underplayed look of this ensemble (yes, gold sequins and gold heels are indeed underplayed in my world). It's still sparkly with some sequins on the top and clutch as well as obviously on the skirt, but doesn't feel as loud as the blue dress (see it here). It's more age appropriate I suppose, which is a first for me, as I can't really say that dressing for my age comes into my head very often. I wear what I like, because I like it and hope that sense of liberation comes across. As long as I feel comfortable in what I wear, I don't mind what anyone thinks. Life's too short for those kind of worries. (Yes, I'm aware that I do share my self doubts with you from time to time, but that usually ends up being my crazy body dysmorphia rather than actual clothes angst.)

And there you have it. Friday brings the last get up, and on Friday evening the party itself, so goodness knows if you'll have time to drop by to cast your final vote before I don my glad rags and take the party by storm.

Details - skirt: H&M (sold out), top: TK Maxx, shoes: Primark, handbag: charity shop, necklace: unknown: sunglasses: Sainsbury's, rings: old.

  1. Anna I do love your version of understated. My vote does go to this one but you do look fabulous in both. The colours suit you perfectly and the longer skirt adds that touch of elegance. Whatever you wear, enjoy yourself and a very Merry Christmas.

    1. Jill, I'm so glad you appreciate the nature of me. I'm favouring this currently but just to put a fly in the ointment, my new boots have arrived and now I have yet another option (as yet unphotographed). I have no idea how this will play out, but thank you so much for your lovely compliments x

  2. Wow, would never have guessed the shoes were Primani, they look so high end.

    1. Aren't they amazing Fiona? What's even more impressive is that they only cost me £6! I think the heels make them look so sleek and much more expensive than that.

  3. I love this look too. When you have two great choices you can't go wrong.

Cannot wait to see Friday's look.

    1. I think you and I would be completely interchangeable in this outfit Suzanne and wish I was a techno wizard so that I could superimpose your head into one of these shots. I fear I've showcased all of these the wrong way around and think that Friday may result in a huge anticlimax. Hey ho!

  4. Wow, this is a stunner on you, Anna! I think that the two outfits are very different, but I prefer this one overall. With the other, it's more like, "That dress!" but this one, it's more, "Look at YOU!" I think that people will react more to the blue sparkly dress than this outfit because it's a very high-impact look - whereas this one, as you said, is more understated (wait till you see my version of understated today, ha ha, we are birds of a feather!).

Whatever you choose, you are damned gorgeous!

    1. Sheila, I'm glad that you can see why I prefer this one too. Maybe that's why I've not worn the blue one yet, as it's so WOW and will be wearing me rather than the other way around. Thanks for your wonderful compliments.
Will be over soon to view your understated look x

  5. To my eye this outfit is much more playful and daring than the blue one, maybe because of this riot of colour here. The sequins on the skirt are fantastic!! And I love how you incorporated the patterns and colours of the top/clutch/shoes. It's going to be a tough decision, Anna. One more to go.

    1. Thanks so much. I agree that this outfit seems more adventurous, more fun and more me. I think it reflects my personality better, and now am wondering if that blue dress might wait in the wings forever...

  6. Yes, this is absolutely gorgeous on you! I love everything - and I have always loved those Primarni shoes, as you know. The top is fabulous and goes so beautifully with the skirt. Amazing clutch bag which goes so well with the shoes. Yes, a most definitely a winner and my favourite so far!

    1. All the things you love Vronni, are all the reasons why I put the outfit together the way I did, so thank you for noticing all the nuances. I'm still pretty much in love with these shoes too and am really pleased that they have kept their shape as they're a satin fabric, not leather and could have ended up a bit tired a year on. I wonder what you'll think of Friday's offering?

  7. You look fabulous in this outfit as well Anna. I LOVE the skirt. It seems to have an iridescent quality that allows it to be paired with any color on the spectrum. I'd love to see it with a velvet top in one color... same shoes though.
I guess I'm still favoring the blue dress.
    How wonderful to have such
bedazzling choices!! Have a lovely evening Anna.

    1. That's so kind of you! I'm delighted that you're still voting for the dress Judy. As you can tell I really have mixed feelings about what's the right thing to do. I hope that by Friday it will be clearer for me, but the final outfit may just muddy the waters further. And now I also have a wildcard to throw in, but am not sure if I can get it photographed in time. What fun!

    1. Thank you so much Monica. I loved this combination too. The shoes have been favourites since I got them, and they seem to go with so many outfits.

  9. Love the skirt. But I am still voting for the blue dress. I like how you have paired this with pattern on top. My first thought would be to wear a plain silk blouse (forever safe me)

    1. That's why I like your blog Laurie - that whole less is more eludes me, but you do it with effortless grace. If something is too understated I feel invisible, crazy I know!
Wishing you a Happy Christmas x
