Show time again!

I'm playing catch up on the blog today. It was a week ago that we opened our May exhibition at the gallery (see here for full details) with Polly and the girls in attendance. Amanda Hoskin was the only artist able to be there for the reception party which worked to her advantage as she sold all but one of her originals. We had an exceptionally busy evening which left us all buzzing.

I wore this dark green beaded dress that's almost vintage now (19 years old) which I bought for my 40th birthday party. It wasn't what I intended to wear, but my jumpsuit failed me at the last minute when the zipper came flying off in my hand as I zipped it up. With only 10 minutes to go, I suddenly had to find something that didn't need to be ironed and that worked. After 4 attempts this came to light as my only choice. My colourful shoes and orange toned vintage necklace brought the look together in the nick of time. My floral clutch lay forgotten on the bed in the last minute rush of things. Hey ho!

Outfit details - dress: Monsoon, shoes: TK Maxx, necklace: Magpie Vintage, rings and bangle: charity shopped.

It was Ruth's turn to have a Marilyn Monroe moment. It does seem to be a tad gusty in front of the gallery this week. Ruth, Polly and Heather did a stalwart job on what was a pretty hectic evening, so thank you all very much.

    1. These shoes are just so versatile - I think if I had to choose one pair to make up my capsule wardrobe, these would be them.

  4. Looks like you made lemons into lemonade when your zipper failed to cooperate Anna! I LOVE this beaded, and sequined dress and something that is so splendidly classic deserves to be featured regularly! You look lovely! The dress that dear Polly's is wearing is also quite beautiful. The colors are so unique and the stripes are very fun!
I want you to know that because of you, Samantha and Ann I'm making a bigger effort to find my sparkly side. Here in Minnesota (northern middle America) I just don't see them worn very much. I've recently purchased a striped, sequined top at a consignment shop and I'm waiting for that perfect opportunity to wear it!

    1. Well isn't that grand that we bloggers have inspired you Jude, that's surely what this sharing of our lives is all about. I think you may have to become a trend setter in your neighbourhood - no need to wait for the occasion to wear your sparkles, perhaps you'll have to create one!

Thanks for your lovely compliments x

  5. One of the advantages to being a wardrobe maximalist is always having something up one's sleeve for back-up. Gorgeous dress, Anna, and look how fab you are! Lovely ladies in the wind!

  7. Anna - that is so annoying when that happens; it's brilliant that you managed to find something so quickly.

    Have a great week

    1. Thanks Veronica. The stupid thing is that even though I know I have this huge schedule of exhibitions, I never prepare my outfits in advance. Perhaps there's a lesson to be learnt here?

  9. Imagine having such a gorgeous dress just lying (lieing? Laying?) around. It is beautiful and you have done an excellent job with the shoes and necklace. And that in 10 minutes. What a stress.

    1. I know, it seems a bit crazy to just have this laying around, but I seem to gravitate towards the new purchases rather than ransack my wardrobe for the oldies but goodies. The shoes and necklace gave the pop of colour that was needed to lift this very dark green. And yes indeed - what a stress.
