Floral jumpsuit

Happy Sunday and hurrah for some beautiful autumn sunshine!

I'm pleased to have a chance to show you the rather fabulous floral jumpsuit I purchased from H&M in Manchester the last time I was there in September. The two shops I always managed to visit during these trips were H&M and TK Maxx, both providing me with some new inspiration and joyful finds. Polly tells me that there are lots of vintage and charity shops in the city, but they're in a different quarter to where I was located. I did find one, near to Piccadilly railway station, and yes was successful there too with those striped Boohoo culottes you may have already seen (here).

This jumpsuit is from the collaboration between these two brands and if you love it as much as I do you can find it still for sale here

I had to make a small adjustment to the jumpsuit as it had an open back with only a button at the top of the scoop neck. I bought an orange zip and unearthed my sewing machine - et viola! A camisole or vest top would have worked equally well, but I fancied not having to make that extra decision every time I wore it.

The fabric of the jumpsuit is a blend of viscose and lyocell which feels silky smooth and light. I think I've just managed to sneak this in below the wire before cooler weather descends for the rest of the year. I tied the sash around twice to give a lovely snug fit and also cover the elasticated waist. The other noteworthy point is, of course, the large roomy pockets - yay!

With so many different colours to choose from it would be easy to accessorise this with pretty much any colour from my jewellery box. I finally chose this collection of orange pieces all of which are preloved. I added my gold chain necklace and Quay Australia sunglasses too.

Now, the jury may well be out as to whether these Zara sock boots are the right thing to wear with this floral (and therefore summery looking) ensemble. Because it's autumn I couldn't really bring myself to wear sandals, despite having orange strappy ones that would work a treat. I somehow wanted to anchor the whole look with a solid and autumnal colour, hence the olive green. The sheer comfort of sock boots plus these funky silver heels were the other deciding factors. Do pitch in here and give me your thoughts, especially if you think I've got better footwear for this.

As I look at this last photo I feel a pang of sadness at the thought that I'm going to lose dear Polly to her winter job in less than three weeks. Her input into these daily sessions is what sparks joy in me, producing these happy shots for all to see. In the meantime, let's enjoy Polly's flair and ability to bring out the fun in me.

Until next time, have a lovely week!

  1. Hooray for Polly and her pics!

I am not 100% on this jumpsuit - I love the fabric, but the cut of the jumpsuit is not quite right. I like the boots - those heels! - but the modern vibe feels a bit off for this definitely warm-weather jumpsuit. However, overall, you still look awesome, Anna! Hope this week is going well for you, my dear.

    1. I suppose that what you see isn't the same as how this feels Sheila which swung it for me when I tried it on. Not all of my clothes are perfect and this may not photograph the best, but it's a stylish piece which is a great addition to my wardrobe. I agree however, that the sandals would have worked better. Hey ho!

  2. Sooper outfit, Anna, and clever of you to tweak it to make it the easy wear it should be. I'm loving those H&M prints. I was in Southampton at the weekend and thought of those prints as I walked passed the shop (Janet of TGC has been wearing these beautiful florals recently too) but Ijust ran out of time to pop in (busy girlie cousin meet up). I'm a bit sad about that now, seeing your gorgeous outfit 😖.
    Good luck to sweet Polly.
    Hugs to you both, x.

    1. H&M are bringing out all sorts of fab print collaborations and this one is a lovely example. I bet you could pick one up online if you check out the new range.

  3. I've seen this jumpsuit on a couple of other bloggers as well and just love it. The pattern and colours are fantastic.

I probably would have added the sandals to this but I do love the colour of those booties.

    1. I'm kinda kicking myself that I just didn't follow my instincts and pop on a pair of chunky sandals to balance this look out...

      Wishing you a fab weekend!

  4. I love the print and colour of this jumpsuit, and it's got the additional bonus of having short sleeves, as most jumpsuits I see are sleeveless. You did a great job adding the zipper! The booties are fabulous but maybe a little bit incongruous, as they're quite dark. I recently bought a pair of powder blue booties at Primark (naughty!) which would be perfect with it! xxx

    1. Glad you like this version Ann. On reflection I too think the boots aren't enhancing the light summery aspect of this outfit, but hey sometimes you have to get things wrong to learn something don't you? Even the powder blue idea would have worked better as you say.

      Enjoy your weekend!

  5. what a lovely jumpsuit, with all those colors to mix and match and accessorize! And you look really gorgeous in this colorful summery style!
Great job adding a zipper to make the top more wearable without layering. Such a difference some stitches make!
I like your olive booties, they create an interesting contrast, but your orange sandals would look fabulous!

  6. Gosh, you'll miss Polly!

I think the boots look fab; they're exactly the right colour for this funky, floral piece.

    Have a good week,

  7. The print of this jumpsuit has an authentic kimono vibe and I LOVE that. I also love that you slapped in a bright orange zipper!
I can't decide about the boots. They do feel a bit heavy but if you add a jacket in a green...

    1. I think I just have to admit that this maybe wasn't my best bit of styling Jude, but thanks for trying to bail me out with the idea of a jacket - not a bad suggestion!

  9. Your jumpsuit is GORGEOUS! I just wish things like this came in natural fabrics- I don't cope so well with synthetic fabrics (and worry about the environmental impact of the ones I have).x

    1. Golly you're so right about the fabric - it's a moral nightmare trying to do all the right things where fashion is concerned.

      Enjoy your weekend!
