My antidote to the midweek blahs - colour therapy and beach walks

Hello again! Today sees me walking the walk as far as colour therapy goes. I bought this pink trench a couple of years ago (pre-loved from Topshop) and after the initial flurry of excitement, I put it away in the wardrobe in my daughter's bedroom and promptly forgot it. How easily done that is. Anyway, I found it again the other day and introduced it to my matching pink sock boots and oh my, didn't they get along well!

My much loved Lee jeans and a simple black sweater (Primark) are all that's needed for this pared down look.

The perspex rings are all charity shopped, the pink perspex and silver bangle was a gift, the tree of life pendant came from a small boutique in Truro and the black leather belt is from H&M.

Jamie gave me the sock boots (from H&M) for my Christmas last year. He's raised the bar quite high - what on earth will he manage to conjure up this year I wonder?

Another part of my mood-lifting therapy is to get out for more walks this winter. The next day I did a small circuit of Old Grimsby and took some shots to share with you.

The frothy sea is being washed in from the big rollers at the North End of the island.

I'd forgotten how therapeutic it can be out get out, away from the chores and do-to lists. I was absorbed by nature; the crashing waves and rhythm of the sea. I walked the beaches and didn't meet a soul. The island is in winter mode and is as beautiful as ever.

  1. Hooray for pink therapy! That coat! How could you forget it? It's so perfect with the shoes. Jamie has set the bar high, for sure - there's not much that tops those!

Wonderful pictures of the island and the beach, Anna! I love going down to the ocean on my walks now - I hadn't realized how much I'd missed it. There is always something about the ocean that puts things in perspective.

Sending you good vibes for the rest of the week, my dear!

    1. Pink therapy is just what I need at this time of year Sheila - glad you like it too.

I'm planning on swapping lunches for lunchtime walks in December to get fit and maybe lose a few pounds before Christmas, so wish me luck!

  2. This is my kind of outfit. Love it. Love the bright colour pink, the jeans. I could easily wear this.
I hope that Jamie will come up with a new fantastic present.
The photos of your island are lovely, but makes me long for summer.

    1. Yes, I could see you wearing this too Greetje.

Fingers crossed that someone in the family will top this Christmas gift!

I love the beach in the summer, but winter on the beach can be equally regenerating x

  3. This time of the year is when I start to feel homesick to the UK again. It's been a few months since we've been there and it will dure until April I think, or maybe we can squeeze some days in Februari. But your photos make me feel a bit better. The see!!!! Aah, nothing better then the British coast line. And your outfits of course! Lol.

    1. I'm sure that there must be such a thing as beach therapy? If not, then I need to invent it! So are you from the UK Nancy?

  5. Beautiful photos especially the ones with the Eastern Isles. The sands look as if they have shifted since I was there and the jellyfish have moved in.
I am very envious of your pink trench and the contrasting black and white checks on the sleeves work so well with the pink.
I found a pink H&M sweater in the bottom of a carrier bag this week. I had completely forgotton buying it a few weeks back but I do remember that it was a bargain at £3!

    1. I had to laugh when I read about your surprise find! That sounds a bit, or rather a lot, like me.

And yes, I had read about them not really being jellyfish. Whatever, they do have potentially fatal stings ...
