Don't get me wrong, I love the warmer weather too, just not yet. I think it'll be a few more weeks until I start to pull out suitcases from under the beds where I store all of my spring and summer clothes. In the meantime I've got a trip to the mainland coming up and that will be another opportunity to see what delights my regular charity shops have in store for me. This year I've made a commitment to have a big clear out of not only clothes, but everything that is clogging my storage system up. When I say storage system, I'm being rather grand in describing what has become a state of grid-lock within the house. The more sensible and organised amongst you may well question what I'm doing heading off to the shops to buy even more. Well 1) I now run a fashion blog, therefore need to inject new clothes to keep things interesting, 2) I'm a clothesaholic, 3) there is no 3. In my defence, I would say that clothes have been a passion of mine since a very early age. Also, as I don't smoke, drink alcohol or eat chocolate I feel that my life really ought not to be about total denial. Like everyone else I want to enjoy the good life and that for me means the daily pleasure of dressing up for myself. I'd like to think that if you're reading this you may be sharing that enjoyment too. Please let me know if that's the case as I do love reading your comments and having feedback to work with.

Happy Easter to you too, Anna!
ReplyDeleteWe are experiencing yo-to weather...the other day I was sitting in the garden with my legs out (topping up my vitamin D). Yesterday I was in my layers of fluffy cosiness, and today we are back to sunshine (no bare legs though).
I love all of the fluffy fuzziness going on here...and those cropped trousers, I want to see more of them! They look fab (especially with the tights). XXX
The ever changing weather is such the norm for us in the UK, isn't it? We've had some lovely golden days in the past week, but this weekend we have weather warnings with flights and boats being cancelled. I seem to be doing, coat-jacket-coat-jacket... So hey, what's the difference between cropped trousers and culottes? I'm bemused.
DeleteAnna x
Culottes are supposed to be just below the knee, Gauchos a little lower, then capri's (narrow fit mid calf) then cropped trousers...a slightly wider version, just above the ankle. These look the latter, but I want to see more of them, they look lovely! XXX
DeleteHappy Easter also!!
ReplyDeleteOf course buying "new" clothing is our addiction---but in the whole scheme of things, it's quite innocent, right?
We just had a blizzard last week, so I'm layering up my spring "Easter" dress in order not to freeze my tookus off!!
I love this coat of yours....it reminds me of one my mom just made for herself----the colors are so lovely! jodie

Ok, now I feel a bit pathetic complaining about our weather here in the UK and there you are still having blizzards! I love it that you're so game by just layering up to be able to still wear your Easter dress. Glad you adore the coat as much as I do. Your mom is amazing - is there anything she can't make?

I notice this every year. Just about the time I'm really starting to enjoy the clothing of a particular season, it's time to change. I can see why you're reluctant to put this coat into storage. It is magnificent. And those gloves!!! You wear bright colors so well. Probably because they enhance your bright personality!
ReplyDeleteConnie, you're so right. I still have of lots of winter clothes that I've got ideas for and am not ready to put them into storage yet. The coat is rather wonderful, isn't it? And those gloves cost me £0.99 from a charity shop! I'd lost one of my dark green leather gloves while I was in London and found these in the bottom of a junk basket - what a find!

Okay fine, you don't drink, do drugs or smoke...but hang on! You don't eat chocolate???!!!!!!!*****
ReplyDeleteGood Lord woman! How can you survive? I'm not saying I use it as a crutch or anything but Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Without Chocolate.
I've been using that excuse, "But I'm a style blogger!" to pad my closet for years now. I think it is worn out. And my closets are bursting. I have a feeling very soon I will need to start an online store.
BUT...back to your amazing outfit! It is seriously making me regret I didn't get those boots that look exactly like what you are wearing. Plus that coat! Actually I like the whole look. All the textures are wonderful. Every detail and those rings! Love it all.
Seriously jealous.
Of your outfit and the fact that you don't need chocolate to survive.
bisous
Suzanne
LOL Suzanne, I had the exact same reaction! I can't imagine life without chocolate! ;)

Hey girls, I'm no saint! If you read my Health Matters page you'll find out why I don't eat chocolate. If I had any choice I'd be chomping my way through an Easter egg right now. Suzanne, I'm sorry that you didn't bag some of these boots too - I think they're totally fab. Glad you love the rest too x

I'm still sitting here open-mouthed at reading you don't eat chocolate!!!!!! Shock Horror I can't imagine it LOL
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I can totally understand why you'd like the cooler weather to continue for a while longer. I would feel the same if I owned such a beautiful winter coat. It's GORGEOUS! That colour, that fabric... swoon!! Love it!

I feel so lucky to have come across this beautiful coat. It makes me feel like a proper grown up. The weather is still pretty hideous down on the islands so I hope to get another week or two of wear out of it. Thank you for dropping by Suzy, lovely to meet you x

That's a brilliant coat, Anna! And yes, I think collecting new clothing can be an "addiction" but a benign one, IMHO. As long as the budget balances, and retirement looks pretty secure, we are entitled to enjoy pretty things! No chocolate, I die. xox

Great advice Patti. I think I'll have to change my habits once I stop working full time, but that looks like it might be some time yet. Chocolate was a huge addiction for me, but also made me hugely ill. Something had to change...

Wow - such a gorgeous, bold coat! I can see why you want to hang on to cooler weather just a bit longer. I enjoyed looking at your beautiful photos and hope you get a little more wear time before it's time to pack it away.

Great to hear from you Jennie and thanks for the lovely feedback. I'm going to keep wearing this for a little while longer then will have to admit defeat by April I think! Am heading over your way to take a look x

You describe my fashion/clothing philosophy so well - I love clothes! I want more!
ReplyDeleteI think your fuzzy pink tartan jacket is a long-lost sister of my pink Muppet skirt!
Sheila, that us - we love clothes and we want more - there are worse things in life, eh? Your pink skirt and my pink jacket, they're surely related. Will they ever get a chance to meet up? is the question.

What a stunning coat and don't worry I'm eating enough chocolate for the both of us! I would love it if you had a chance to stop by my blog and add this outfit to my link up. My readers would love it!

Hello again Allison. I've just popped over to your link up - thanks for your prompt. I love seeing your updates on IG x

I fell for your coat the moment I laid eyes on it when you posted the first time. Gaaa - of course you don't want to hibernate it! I know we can wear summer clothes in winter with layering, but isn't it a pity we can't do winter in summer too for our fave pieces?
ReplyDeleteI always, ALWAYS say like you that I need a clearing out, but I just get more clothes. Of course when my closet hits bursting-alert I sort through, but I get such joy from clothing. Clearly you do too. In the scheme of things, it's a small thing. So play away!!
This coat is the finest thing I've come across in a long time. I'm more than a little bit in love with it. A few more weeks and it's going to have to be tucked away whether I like it or not (bo hoo). However that will also be around the same time as my next shopping trip...I keep thinking if I talk about having a clear out, it's almost as good as actually having a clear out! Hahaha, I'm a bit of a joke. You're so right - my clothes give me such pleasure, so why try to deny that? Thanks Melanie x

I am with you on the clothes thing. I don't drink or smoke either. Work fulltime (and have done for 45 years on a stretch), so I think I deserve my adornment flaw too. Lovely fluff you are wearing. Love the coat. That was a good buy.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
PS do you know that your "previous' and "next"buttons are still switched?
The coat has been one of my most admired pieces since I bought it in February, so I don't regret it at all. Surely we deserve some treats?
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling me about the buttons. I've got someone helping me with this niggle and hope we can sort it x
