Polly's back!

Yes, I'm thrilled to say that Polly, my very capable gallery assistant and wonderfully creative blog photographer, is back working alongside me for another season. After having a diverse range of jobs over the winter as well as a couple of holidays, she is equally happy to be part of our small island community once again. Our first photo shoot, before our working day began, was as fun as ever, and I do hope her infectious sense of humour comes across throughout the season ahead.

It was my turn to apply a bit of sabotage when Polly was trying to appear poised.

Am a bit cross with myself that I didn't remove the label out of this top very well.

Gold Chelsea boots. Oh how I love them!

Today's outfit is all about the shaggy top. I found this in a charity shop in Truro and it was brand new, hurrah! I love the colour as well as the shape. The chilly easterly wind is still blowing across the islands so this extra layer is just what's needed at work to keep me cosy. Black leggings and the black turtleneck were my first thought, but when I tried them on underneath the bottle green top it all looked a bit flat. After a quick regroup I decided on these floral jeans from Zara to keep the whole thing funky. And there's nothing more funky than my fab gold Chelsea boots. My dancing girl necklace shows up so well against this dark colour, don't you think? Thanks for dropping by and I'll see y'all again on Sunday!

Top: charity shop. Jeans: Zara. Black top: charity shop. Chelsea boots: River Island. Necklace: Charlie Dodge. Rings: charity shop.

  1. I've tried that hairy beast on!
It was in H&M at Christmas. Sadly, I did not have enough bust to fill it out properly. But, I loved it!
I am so glad you found it for a bargain price and it looks so good too.

    1. What's really exciting is that I've found a charity shop that gets a load of H&M goods direct from them which are all brand new! This beauty was the only one, a size 16, but what the heck, I think it looks great. Maybe too big for you to PPP though x

    1. Sheila, it's the nearest thing to one of Mel's shaggy coats that I've managed to find so far. And the gold boots, ah, what's not to love? Glad to see you're home again. I'll pop over to see your latest now.

  3. I used to have a hairy sweater like that (it was a fave of mine until I stupidly put it in the washer & dryer)! The texture is divine...but we're missing your brogues!! jodie

    1. Those dryers are the end of so many knits! I don't tumble dry anything anymore, but either hang outside or indoors. The brougues thing, well I worry that I may bore everyone if I become too predictable. Seemingly there are people who aren't as in love with them as we are. Ridiculous, I know! The mint green brogues will be turning up in the near future though...

  4. That's a lovely outfit, Anna. I love the flowery jeans with the fluffy/hairy top. I'm learning that texture or pattern is good thing to lift block colours from looking too flat. What gorgeous gold boots they really make the outfit come alive!

    Have a lovely Easter

  5. What a wild outfit! Literally! LOL

I adore the colour and the texture. Don't show this to Melanie, she has a thing for anything furry. She might want to arm wrestle you for it.

  8. Ha.. see, that is where we differ, I would have stuck with the black leggings. The rest I would have done the same. Those golden booties are worth their weight in...gold. Pun intended haha.
Love your little dancing lady. She is dressed quite reveilingly, isn't she? Saucy little soandso.

  9. I'm not surpised to hear you would have gone with the leggings. And hey, you've even got your own version of the gold booties, haven't you? I love my dancing girl and have to agree she's a bit saucy. I think she goes off dancing the can-can with her girlfriends in the evenings when I hang her up!

  10. Yay, Polly!! She is a talented girl indeed. I am my own photographer so I know how difficult it is. Gosh, Anna, this outfit is so wonderful. In the 1970's I left my little mountain town to study in London for a year. I had never seen such groovy clothing in my entire life (farmers are not know for their daring sartorial choices!) and this outfit reminds me so much of the wonderful clothing I saw on the streets of London, right down to your boots. This is a retro look that looks completely relevant. You, my dear, are a rock star.

    1. Thank you so much Connie. I was in my teens in the 70's, when the fashion of the day became my passion. Every penny earned after school went to savings for my next outfit from a boutique named Beaujangles some 40 miles away from home. I have no qualms about mixing all my retro looks together in the hope of creating a new version of me. Such lovely feedback, Connie, thank you!
