Mighty monchrome

I'm a flighty type when it come to dressing, as you'll surely know by now. One minute it's all Barbie leggings and leopard print bikini top and the next, this simple monochrome look. I love being a chameleon. This skirt has been showcased recently in the post "As suggested by ...Joan" and I won't apologise for that as I love it so much. Today's offering is a variation on that theme - I thought it would be fun to pair the skirt with this satin jacket, after giving my other satin one an outing recently. I know it won't be jacket weather for much longer!

This sweet knitted top was a gift from Ann of Kremb de la Kremb recently. One of the perks of our global game of clothes ping pong is that we often include an extra piece that may work for one from the other. Ann sent me a couple of things - this very fine sweater which fits me perfectly and the other was a midi length skirt that Polly snaffled as it was a bit too big for me. I love the simplicity of the top which works perfectly when put with all of the pattens going on here. The shoes are new, from H&M sale some time ago and are downright copies of the ones my daughter bought last winter. Thank goodness she's not upset when I copy her style, and neither am I if she copies mine.

Details - jacket: New Look, shoes: H&M, skirt: H&M, sweater: gift, tights: Walford, belt: H&M, rings: charity shop.

  1. I'm also all for changes - after all clothes reflect our mood - as some wise people say :D ;) . But one colour theme is one of my most favourite ideas. Your little top is great but so are all the other items. You look great :) . HHave a nice Sunday - Margot :)

    1. You're so right Margot, it's all about mood when it comes to choosing an outfit. Sometime I want to project the fun side of myself others is about being a bit more edgy which is what I think this look says today. Thanks for your comments again x

  2. Mighty Monochrome. That is so cute, Anna :) the theme song for Mighty Mouse immediately sprang to mind, I shan't lie. And indeed, you're quite my super heroine when it comes to putting together the wildest of prints, with much panache. I mean, even your tights are patterned yet they do naught but add to the overall look so beautifully xo

p/s My weekly Project Sister Act Link-Up is now live on the blog, and I’d love for you to stop by and join in xoxo

    1. Some people carry off that black and white look so well. It can be so many things can't it - classy, racey, funky, chic, understated, even rock chick - so versatile! Thanks for your kind words.

    1. So kind Vronni. Some things just feel as good as they look and this outfit is one.
We've got a stiff north wind blowing here which makes getting in and out of the sea a bit more challenging in the mornings. It's warmer to be in the water than out!
      Have a lovely week x

  6. As you surely know, I'm also very flighty when it comes to my style! I love that you change it up frequently, Anna! The only constant is change with us, eh? Another satin bomber jacket? Jeez, where do you keep finding these? I scoured my local hipster thrift store yesterday and nary a bomber jacket to be found! Love the shoes! The monochrome look can be super fun to play with and you've nailed it.

    1. I like that Sheila, our only constant is change, very good! I'm increasingly drawn to playing around with black and white, but that's maybe because I've got some interesting pieces currently. Let's keep reinventing eh?

  7. SO CUTE!!!!!
The print of that skirt is really unique. It has flavors of geometric and animal all at once. I really like all of the print varieties here. I'm thinking that black and white is one of the easiest way to do this (?) I also notice that your skirt and jacket are about the same scale of print. IS that important?
This is such a cool look Anna!!

    1. Hi Judy. I'll start at the end, and yes in this case the scale being about the same size does indeed make this look more of a success. The colours are in the same family, the print is of the same size, so none of it looks out of place. Mixing prints is about having fun - I hope that you're having a go?
Thanks for your feedback again Judy, and I wish you a lovely week ahead x

    1. Black and white are not my norm, Jacqui. I'm more about a riot of colours to be honest, but this mix of patterns seems to satisfy me in the same way a splurge of colour would. Thanks for your compliments and for taking the time to drop by x

  10. It may be somewhat monochromatic, but the outfit is anything but boring. I think that's my first thought when I hear monochromatic. That could be why I'm usually put off by it.
But your outfit dear Anna, is anything but!
I mean, just the tights alone are the greatest ever!!

    1. I'm exactly the same as you when I think monochrome, which is why I wanted to play about with this as I did. My tights drawer is no longer a drawer as I have so many pairs and not many are plain and simple either. My under the bed box for black ones starts with fine black, through to lacey ones, patterned ones, check ones, tartan and then onto thick plain, thick fancy and then thick cable. And that's just the black! Need I go on?
      Have a great day x
