Black trouser challenge 4

Week four of this challenge brings the cost per wear down to £10 which is a figure that I like, and I've not run out of ideas yet either. This is a non-sponsored post, done for the sheer joy of testing myself to see how many variations I can come up with over the next few weeks.

You could say I'm getting into my stride with these now. (Sorry.) But anyway, I'm having fun and that's what it's all about isn't it? This jacket is an old favourite of mine and Angela's too (hello!) but the fact that the top button doesn't close means I might have to get on the bathroom scales again to see what's amiss.

Classic cream and black could sound a bit unadventurous, boring even, but the ruffle hems and mini pleats put paid to any nonsense like that. And just to ensure there's no trace of the mundane these lovely leopard print courts are a winning move. As the day warmed up I removed the jacket to reveal this pretty lace top. Lots of textures and fancy embellishments is what this outfit is all about and it has me in my element. Every time I stride out in these fancy pants I get a real spring in my step. They're a great blend of classy, stylish and a tad sexy too - what a winning combination!

Details are - trousers: River Island, jacket: S'NOB, lace top: charity shopped (no label), shoes: Salord Jover, all jewellery: charity shopped, sunglasses: M&S (old).

I'll be back on Sunday so do swing by for the latest.

  1. So much ruffly fabulousness here! I love how you are embracing the black trousers, Anna - they are so fun! PS - I know, I have been horribly remiss in mailing you that orange dress. The reminder keeps popping up...soon (she said, guiltily).

  2. This little cream, sweater, jacket is a real beauty Anna and combined with the lace top and cameo pendant this outfit is definitive "classically" refined dressing. You look as though you live in a large palatial estate!
I might need a review of all the various stylings of these fabulous versatile trousers. Did you do a casual sporty look yet?

    1. I like this classic twist too Jude and so wish I had the large estate to go with the look! The idea of a sporty spin is a bit of a puzzle as to how to pull that off. I'll give it some thought...

  3. What a fluffy affair. Sorry, Anna, it just slipped out. I'll have to say this is probably my least fave showcase of those darling ruffled pants thus far, and that's likely because the palette is somewhat muted by and pales in comparison with my top faves (#2 and #3, oh #3, be still my heart). I still have so much love for those pants, I've actually put a pair in my own cart, and when I'm back from vacation, if my size still exists, then it's meant to be :) xo

    1. It's always good to have some constructive criticism Sheela, so no need to apologise. If the truth be known, I held back from showing these shots as they didn't wow me immediately, but when I came back to them after a week of stewing I decided they did merit a viewing.

I'm intrigued to hear if you go ahead and purchase these after all.

  4. Love this texturally layered outfit on you. You have shown great way to wear neutral and keep it interesting and creative.

I totally disagree with Sheela : P This is one of your best!

    1. Thanks for that Suzanne. I really like the idea of the classics of black and cream being jazzed up with pleats and ruffles and yes, I thought it was interesting too.

    1. Hahaha, I love that I've managed to brainwash you Samantha! These would look wonderful on your long, lean limbs. They're very tailored, but being synthetic they do have some give, although not what I'd call stretch. Does that make sense?
