5th August show night

I'm surely not the only one to be slightly alarmed at the speed we're whizzing along currently. Here I sit, typing away frantically on the 9th about the event on the 5th while I have my mind on the 11th! So let's stop, breathe and just be in the moment.

I've been waiting for months to show you these fabulous new shoes. I bought them in the River Island sale in April when I was in Harrogate and have been keeping them for the right outfit. Fuchsia and red make for a stunning combination don't you think?

My frock is a recent charity shop purchase. The brand is Monsoon and I was delighted to find a dry cleaning label attached meaning I didn't have to undertake that myself. It's a lovely coral colour that works perfectly with the shoes.

The breeze made for an interesting photo shoot with the majority of the photos being discarded thanks to my lack of fringe - oh how I hate to see my white forehead!

And here are the girls, also battling the effects of the wind. Max, Polly and Heather were on top of things for the evening, making everything run smoothly as usual. Many thanks to them.

The artists featured in this week's show (see here) are Teresa Pemberton, Tom Rickman and Jenny Ulyatt, shown above with her husband. They spent a couple of days on the island winding down after her opening night. Jenny works in watercolours, but with a very fresh, contemporary feel. See the link above to view her work.

Apologies for being brief, but I must head on out for my morning swim now. The sun is shining and there's still a brisk wind blowing, but the sea beckons no matter the weather.

Outfit details - shoes: River Island, dress: Monsoon, necklace: Debenhams, rings: charity shopped, sunglasses: Quay Australia.

  1. Now I have shoe envy! Another perfect look Anna. It sounds so lovely to just head off for a swim in the sea, and enjoy your sun. It's chucking it down here in London! xx

    1. It was love at first sight when I saw these shoes and I'm still head over heels now. I'm sure I'll have plenty more opportunities to wear them next year too. Sometimes I dread the thought of my swim, but I always push myself as I know the afterglow will be worth it, and it is!

Thanks for dropping by again x

    1. Thanks so much Mary. I'm a bit of a speed shopper, but that's because I have to be and seem to have a radar for finding the best bargains. This dress was a great scoop.

Wishing you a lovely week x

  3. Coral is the sweeter, soft spoken and feminine orange would you agree? I think its a color (like turquoise) that just looks good on everyone!! This dress is just SO happy and pretty with the little pleats and embroidered bodice. The shoes are fabooo! I sincerely don't know how you manage to do a heel like this but I'm delighted that you can and do!!

    1. I think you're so right about coral and turquoise - they're so flattering on most skin tones. I have lots of them in my summer wardrobe as they are such happy colours. I'm very fortunate that I don't have far to walk between home and work otherwise I'd be struggling to wear these kind of shoes.

      Take care,

  4. Those are gorgeous shoes - wow, be still my heart! I can't wear that high of a heel anymore, though. Sad!

Love that dress, Anna - I bet it had a mind of its own in the wind!

    1. I do think my days are numbered with this height, but I'll stride out in them for as long as I can. The combination of silk crepe and gusty wind certainly caused quite a stir!

    1. Thanks so much Nancy. Our weather is so changeable at the moment and was more like winter here today with wild winds and rain for most of the day. Do pack sensible clothes for our weather next month as anything can happen. Are you visiting London?

  6. Coral is wonderful on you!

I'm very envious of your high heels and the fact that you can wear them. I can, but only if I know I'll be sitting for 98% of the time.

    bisous

    1. Coral is such a gentle colour for my skin and hair colour, but would work for most I'm sure. It must look fab on you with your glorious red hair. I don't wear this height of shoe during a normal day, but can manage on a show night where I'm stationed at the desk for the duration.
