The last summer exhibition

Friday heralded the final summer show at the Gallery and what a lovely collection it is (see here). And just to make the evening more special one of the artists, Theo Crutchley-Mack, managed to surprise us by turning up unannounced just when we'd resigned ourselves to hosting the party on our own.

The party may be over, but the fat lady hasn't quite sung yet, as the show continues until the 19th October so plenty time for Maggie, Melanie and Theo to sell, sell, sell!

The eagle-eyed amongst you will recognise this most recognisable of outfits. My planned ensemble was something entirely different, but just didn't feel right on the night. With time running out (why, oh why, don't I have a dry run of these beforehand?) I threw open my wardrobe and my eyes fell on the riot of colour and texture that is this vintage skirt and decided to go with what made me feel fabulous. And I did, all night long. Outfit details - skirt: (vintage) Susan Small, blouse: (vintage) Shubette, shoes and handbag: Primark, rings and necklace: all preloved, sunglasses: Sainsbury's, belt: eBay.

The girls and I went out for a drink after the show was over to celebrate a job very well done. Thanks to Heather, Polly, Max and Ruth for making each evening run smoothly - without your help ladies the evening wouldn't be the success it is!

As the sun set on a perfect evening, our six shows in 60 days came to an end. The paintings came, were hung, many sold, and hopefully many more will sell before the year is over. We enjoyed the company of artists and clients bonding over a glass of wine, discussing the merits of the show of the moment. The exhibitions may be over, but summer remains and we will all revel in the last of these golden days before autumn creeps in.

  1. Congratulations on the last summer exhibition! Sounds like you had a very busy summer!

You last-minute outfit is beautiful! I have made the mistake of not trying on an outfit in its entirety before but didn't have such a fantastic backup! You look fabulous!

I hope life slows down a bit for your now dear Anna! Have a wonderful week!

    1. Thanks so much Andrea. The summer has whizzed past in a blur, but an enjoyable one none the less. I do have a few old faithfuls that I know will always work and that's something I'd advise anyone to keep in reserve. The outfit makes me feel fabulous which is half the battle - if you feel good then you'll look good, don't you agree?

Am just about to have another hectic spell, but hopefully things will calm down by next weekend.

      Take care!

    1. Thanks so much Monica. The exhibitions have been such a wonderful collection this summer and full of inspiration for me too. I wasn't upset at having to wear this (repeated) outfit as it's such a riot of colour and is great fun.

      Thanks for dropping by again!

  4. You made it, good work, all of you! I have kicked myself so many times for not doing "dry runs" of outfits I have planned in my head that don't look so good on me - don't beat yourself up, and console yourself that you look FAB in this outfit, repeat or not! Gorgeous sunset! Enjoy the end of the season!

    1. It's such a relief to get to this stage when it's all over and yet I'm still basking in the artists' reflected glory. It would be grand to have time to do dry runs, but we both know that we're far too busy with real life for that kind of luxury!

      Catch up soon.

  5. This skirt is just spectacular enough that seeing it again is expected!! Besides it is a bit evocative of some of the art you included in the link.
Thank you for sharing the work of these wonderful artists. They all capture Tresco with such different eyes, each a wonderouus depiction of what is special about your home of islands. What a perfect profession for you Anna!

    1. Dearest Kezzie was it a year ago that we walked around the island together? Seems so long ago now. Perhaps you and your mum could make a return visit next summer? I'm delighted to be compared with Margo Leadbetter and will think of that every time I wear this now. Lovely, thank you!
