Ping Pong Piece no 6

Hello and welcome to the August edition of Ping Pong Piece, our monthly challenge where we each in rotation choose an everyday item to style up. See how this first came about here and then transformed into the current format here. Samantha is hosting this month's feature choosing Wide Legged Trousers for us to style and introducing our guest blogger Liyana.

Samantha of Fake Fabulous wears her gunmetal grey floppy trousers with a khaki tunic with side gathers. Her huge chestplate necklace makes a fabulous statement piece against this simple backdrop as do these cute embroidered slippers. I love how Sam always delivers the unexpected - I so didn't imagine this when she suggested Wide Legged Trousers as our theme! I somehow thought she and I might be mirroring each other so isn't it great that she can still surprise me.

BAG & SHOES: Topshop

I urge you to take a look at Liyana's blog Affordable - I've linked through to her intro page so that you can learn about the lady first before you see her spin on our combined feature. Her take on fashion and shopping really strikes a chord with me; she buys most of her clothes when they are on sale and by making these savings she can afford to splurge on some special accessories. Today's outfit is a great example of her individual style combining her understated blazer with these uber cool palazzo pants and patent shoes and then throwing in her wild card by way of the Disney clutch.

No-brand draped pants
Topshop t-shirt
Shanghai Disneyland "Alice" clutch

Kremb de la Kremb blogger Ann is looking tres chic today in black and white. Her wide legged white trousers and sweet gingham blouse have a look of the French Riviera with her sunglasses and earrings adding a touch of 60's glamour. Within hours of taking this shot Ann ended up in hospital with excruciating back pain. By simply bending over she had torn two discs in her back. I'm sending her all my love and hope she'll be well soon

My regular readers may recognise these huge palazzo pants of mine from last year. The bargain of the day at £5 they still have the wow factor for me. I decided to play things down with this classic white shirt which was another bargain in Sainsbury's sale this summer at only £8. I've taken metallics as my counterpoint with the multi-toned necklace, silver mesh belt and gold bag, sandals and bangles finishing the look.

    1. Hey Sam, thanks for that summation. The challenge was a good one and fun as ever!

  2. I love these pieces! All of you have such a unique take on these pants. I'm just catching up with some of my favorite blogs, like yours Anna! It's been busy and I know this is your busy time so I hope to be a better blog-follower for the next few months! Though I love watching your Instagram feed when I can't make it here. Take care and enjoy the rest of your summer! xx Julia

    1. Thanks so much Julia. Life has been hectic for a lot of us over the summer period and I've not managed to visit my favourite blogs either. The pace here is about to drop so you'll see more of me over your way too!

  3. All wonderful looks - good vibes to Ann and hope her back is getting better!

I love these amazing palazzo pants on you, Anna! They remind me of my Danger Pants (now given away). I'm coming around to wide-legged pants!

    1. The best thing about anything oversized like this Sheila is that it helps other features look small by comparison. I always feel like I've got a teeny waist when I wear huge pants like these.

      Catch ya later!

  4. Those floral palazzo pants are just wonderful Anna! I. I really like the way hou added the metal belt and geometric necklace. These accessories play off the floral so uniquely!
I love the inclusion of Liyana in ghis post. I've followed her for about a year and I love her spunky and unexpected style flare. The palazzo pant is a fun addition to modest hijabi style.
I'm SO sorry to learn about Anne's back!!! She has had many challenges this year and I know her spirit will remain strong but this really stinks!!
Sam never ceases to surprise me with her unique combinations of form and color. Her take makes us reimagine the wide leg pant once again.

    1. Another month, another dose of fun! These collaborations are such a visual art fest don't you think? All of us doing our own thing with a tenous link by way of the wide trouser. There are always so many new ideas/style tips to garner from a feature like this that I feel I'm really giving value for money to all my readers. But I'm preaching to the converted with you Jude. Thanks x

  5. Ahhh those BANGLES! I didn't notice them when we were first exchanging photos, but now that I see a close-up of them, swoonnn. You pull off these accessories so well, Anna! I am such a "rings girl" but I recently obtained a pair of bangles from my trip to China and I've been wanting to stack bangles ever since - especially the more delicate ones. Basically, your arm candy is goalsss.

I love how you've upped the classiness with these floral pants, pairing them with the white shirt but my favourite part might just be the cinching the waist in with that amazing belt!

    1. As you've gathered I'm big on accessories as I'm a more is more girl. Where other bloggers might have seen these voluminous pants as a big enough feature, my nature is to ask what can I add to make a unique statement. Mixed metals seemed to be the answer. I'm delighted to hear that you've discovered the joy of bangles - I do think they can add an element of style or fun depending on which you wear.

It was so lovely to have you involved in this month's challenge!
