Zebra print tights

I have to say that going into autumn is never an easy time for me. I suffer a touch of S.A.D. and the winter months loom large. We, in the Northern hemisphere, watch the sun heading South and for many it's a journey we wish we could take too. In February of this year Steve and I travelled to New Zealand to visit friends and it was such a wonderful bonus to find ourselves slap, bang in the middle of summer. To feel the sun on your back relaxes all of those muscles that have been hunched up against the cold all winter, and the warmth of the rays on the face has the same soothing effect. Small wonder we all look so damned good in our holiday snaps!

I've found a new backdrop today as the sea is starting to look a bit grey rather than the twinkly temptation it was during the summer months. Also, this pampas grass is great to offset my zebra print tights. I bought these in a bundle from eBay a couple of years ago, but today is the first time I've worn them. I love this textured pencil skirt, but thought it might look a bit boring, so enter stage left these amazing tights, swiftly followed by my rose gold brogues (I still get a little thrill just mentioning rose gold and brogues all in the same sentence). I think this fluffy jumper is a great zingy colour and I must admit I'm a sucker for fluffy numbers as you'll no doubt see over the forthcoming months. The jacket was a recent charity shop find, and just needed some new buttons to bring it back into life. Suede jackets like this used to be called "car coats", but I have no idea why. Do you? Please let me know if you do.

Jacket: charity shop. Skirt: charity shop. Sweater: Tesco. Blouse: charity shop. Tights: eBay. Shoes: TK Maxx. Cream flower ring: charity shop; Tan flower ring: Dorothy Perkins. Handbag: charity shop.

  2. Your 'car coat' brought back memories of the 70s, Anna! And I've no idea why they were called that either! A little TLC as it looks perfect with the rest of the outfit. Especially like that you've used different buttons - what a lovely touch.
And those tights just liven up the skirt and look adorable with those brogues.
I completely sympathise - I too suffer SAD - quite badly. In the past I've really dreaded Winter and I do find it a hard slog. Since the clocks have gone back my body clock has been all over the place! It's why I love to wear colour so much in the Winter. Definitely helps me to keep a more optimistic mood until Spring.
Forgot to add that is that your fringe back you mentioned a while back in one of my posts? It's gorgeous!

  3. Good to hear from you again, Jacqueline. I think S.A.D. Is more common than we realise, and thank you for sympathising. I'm always planning my next outfit so will keep your tip about bright colours in mind. The non matching buttons are a good way of adding a bit of interest as you say. And yes, this is my fringed bag, although I still covet your black one!

  4. I don't mind admitting to letting out a little gasp.....at your tights!
Oooooo.....{Ebay??, too vague as a source of these beauties, I need brand names!!}.
Metallic nails and brogues (swoon)...and all of that fluff...just fab.
I have to tell you that I have taken your comment/suggestion on board (just in case you don't read my reply) and I am on the look-out for tailored shorts or a playsuit (you are a bad influence!) hahaha...thank you!

    1. Hi Samantha, just been over to your page and can see you're on the case re the shorts. I think it's your duty considering we older gals can't get away with this look, so the pressure's on! (Honestly no pressure at all, as you will look fab I know!)
I really don't have a brand for the tights. I found a seller who had a bundle of tights without packets, and some were great, some not so. Has taken me a while to get the look together to accomodate these, but I think they work. Fluff, brogues and sparkle just about sums me up.

  5. Those shoes! I am SO envious of those! I have been lusting after a pair of metallic brogues but have yet to pull the trigger! And I love that acid greenish yellow color. It is a surprisingly neutral color, isn't it? It goes with SO much!

    1. Hi Kristin, I'm partial to brogues of any kind, but metallic just tops the lot. The sweater will be great to keep me cosy this winter, and yes I think it fits in with my autumn shades. Thanks for dropping by!

  7. I think they were called car coats as being short one wouldn't sit on the coat, so it wouldn't crumple... And then a car blanket would keep the legs warm if necessary?
