Michael Kors boots

Yet again TK Maxx has come up trumps with these Michael Kors boots.

The movement in this photo was a matter of click and run!

I had a quick visit to the mainland last month and managed to fit in a mini splurge in the shops. Confessional over. I normally share my shopping spoils with you, but have had to hold back as I'm waiting for something to come back from the Dry Cleaners before I do. However, I couldn't hold off showing you these any longer. From good old TK Maxx, these Michael Kors boots were reduced from £195 to £43! I've been on the hunt for some little booties (I've discovered that ankle boots are booties according to the blogging world which I think is really cute) ever since I saw these cream ones on Greetje's blog No Fear of Fashion as seen here. (Yes, I know I've spoken about them before, but I just can't get them out of my head.) These pay homage to hers although they are quite different, but equally stylish methinks.

The trick was to find an outfit that said upmarket,as these heels were hailed as hot stuff when I proffered them for inspection at the hairdressers in Truro the day I bought them. No flashes of skin was a good start. The next thing was to pull together this skirt and jacket combo. Now that looks good. And the patterned polo just gives a bit of personality and stops it all being a bit bland and too safe. The final flourish is to add my net underskirt to give volume and shape to what is actually a very heavy woollen skirt. Plain brown tights to lengthen the legs, a coral belt to emphasise the waist and some choice jewellery finishes the styling challenge - I'm really pleased. Now where am I going to wear this lot on a quiet Sunday afternoon on this little island of mine?

Booties: TK Maxx. Jacket: charity shop. Skirt: charity shop. Polo neck: eBay. Belt: vintage. Rings: charity shop.

And finally...

On Thursday evening this piece of an American rocket was washed up on the shores of the Isles of Scilly. There were many locals and coastguards involved in bringing the  piece of fuselage onto the beach at New Grimbsy (just 300m from my workplace) so I had a birds eye view. By Friday the environmental agency was present and soon local news reporters turned up to cover the find. The BBC and local radio gave details of the event during the course of the day. The exact identification of the rocket is still a matter of question and where the piece will end up is under discussion. We're used to flotsam washing up from time to time, but this beats the lot.

  1. Oh gosh, I love your outfit, Anna! Those booties just make it - but I also adore that jacket, the funky 60s/70s print top and that full skirt. I am kicking myself for getting rid of a big wool red skirt like that, but ah well.

How cool about the rocket piece! I love that it's completely covered in mussels!

    1. Thanks Sheila I'm pleased you like this. Can't believe that you moved your red skirt on - I somehow imagined that you had endless storage space. Still, we know there will another replacement just around the corner. And yes, crazy about that rocket piece, eh?

  2. I adore the print on the top! It looks vintage.

So wild that the rocket showed up in your backyard.

  4. Booooooooots!
    Wow, I love them.
I know exactly what you mean about press and run....beep beep beep!
So funny. I almost fell over a few times.
Can you get a remote for your camera?
Much easier (if you remember to hide it....another mistake I have made).
    Great fun though.

    1. Hi Samantha, yes, aren't these lovely boots! I really need to look into the remote thing, but the good news is that I may have a photographer for the next couple of months, so watch this space...

    3. Samantha, seemingly these are gooseneck barnacles - considered a real delicacy in some countries xx

  5. By the second and third photo I was smitten with the flare of that fabulous skirt, but then the fourth photo, I was like, HOLY SMOKES! Look at that jacket! The details are exquisite!

I love good bargain. Makes me sometimes never pay full price. I love TJ Maxx too. Can't wait to go this December. I better clean out my closet before I head home for the hols.

Thanks for linking up to my Style Stories Anna!

    Love, Ann

    1. Ann, first of all thanks for the link up again this week. And this jacket, well wasn't it quite a find. I've styled it with trousers too and it's really versatile. I have shopping envy thinking of you preparing for a big trawl of the shops this month - have fun, and be sure to show us all of your loot!

  6. Oooh, so many yummy pieces in this outfit! Those are wicked heels for a wicked woman (evil laugh). Gorgeous. The pocket on the jacket, the pattern on your top, and the pouffy skirt, love it all. You get the best beach detritus. I think it's romantic that a piece of rocket washed up on your beach. Is that weird?

    1. Melanie, I do feel a touch of the Cruella coming on...hahahaha! Glad you approve of the get up - it's got a grown up glamour that appeals to me. And that rocket, well I get what you mean. Thanks for dropping by x

  7. ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gasps in delight! This post has been open in a tab on my phone for a day! I meant to comment but train signal is awful! You look an absolute vision! That skirt is to die for and the boots, though too high for me,are SOOOOOOOOOOO stylish!
AND, I just realised you live in the Isles of Scilly! WOW, which one? The isles are the place I am most looking forward to visiting on my cruise next summer (I am going on a British isles island cruise because I want to visit all the islands!!!!!!! Not so sure about the cruise idea but the islands, thats the best bit!)x

    1. Oh wow Kezzie! If you've got the Abbey Gardens on your itinerary then I promise I'll meet you there. The cruise ships dock just off of St Mary's and usually arrange for small tenders to deliver the guests to all of the islands. You must keep me informed so that I can come to meet you. My husband and I did a cruise a while ago for the same reason - we wanted to pack in some island hopping in the Canaries and it was worth it.
Thanks for all the lovely compliments on the outfit. The boots are crazily high, but I can still teeter about in them. The whole thing felt fab and needs to have a proper outing this winter.

  8. My oh my those heels!!! I could never walk in heels that spindly and high! But they do look amazing with the outfit. I especially love the graphic polo neck - very Toulouse Lautrec!

    1. Jacqueline you're right they do look crazily high, but th saving grace is the height of the platform which does help a bit. And hey they make me feel great! Lovely to hear from you x

  9. Perfect booties. Bloody high, but if you can walk on them, very sexy. Thanks for the shout-out. I didn't know my booties had inspired you that much. Mine have the advantage of a low heel, but... are not that easy to wear with a skirt. The price you paid for yours is amazingly low. And you created a beautiful outfit with it. Clever to widen the skirt with a net underskirt. It gives the right silhouette. Lovely colour combination too. Another job well done.
As for the find on the beach... must have been quite an upheaval.

    1. So glad that you appreciate these little booties - I hoped you might. It's funny what sparks of an idea for an outfit, but these will be inspiration for quite a few I'm sure. I loved the final look of this too, so thank you.
The guys from Spacex have been and dismanted the pieces they wanted from the rocket and taken them back to the USA. It was all very exciting for a while!
