Introducing the Candy Bag

Every once in a while a handbag appears with your name on it, and this Candy Bag was one of those. I was on the search for a fringed bag while I was away recently, but when I finally got the chance to check out TK Maxx (where I was convinced said fringed bag would be waiting for me), well blow me, it wasn't anywhere to be seen! The only two sorry and tired-looking fringed offerings were evidence enough that this trend was old hat, and I needed to move on, pronto. Once I removed my blinkers, I was free to see what might be mine amongst the 400 or so bags that were on display. Suddenly, this beauty caught my eye as it sat proudly on the front of a shelf. Wow! I grabbed it quickly and carried it around, making sure it didn't have any rivals. Nope, not one. This was it. My trophy. My new handbag.

The wonderful bag is see-through PVC, yet doesn't look cheap; it's bright, yet not garish; conventional in shape, yet unusual in it's entirety. In short, it's my perfect new bag. I'll make my apologies now for the fact that it may well feature in far too many posts this summer, but that's pretty much how it goes with my latest love affair. Until the next one comes along...

The outfit today was really all about the bag. Understated is not my default setting, as you probably know, but it just seemed like the right thing to do. Let the bag have its moment I say. The Candy Bag has arrived. All hail the Candy Bag!

  1. Just pop that entire outfit in my closet when you're done will you? I love it all!

I adore the dress and the neckline. This reminds me of an A-line version of that 1960's vintage orange dress I have. This is so chic! That bag is cool but it is the whole outfit coming together so wonderfully that shows you know how to flex your style muscles so very well.

    1. These comments have such gravitas coming from you Suzanne. Thank you. I must admit my recent shopping spree has inspired some lovely new avenues for me to discover. The dress cost me £11 in the supermarket where I had lunch with my girlfriend last week. Such a great start to my clothes shop!

  2. It's the coolest pop of color ever!!
(i know what you mean about finally being able to open your eyes and voila---I find shopping a much more successful venture when I'm not "looking" for something in particular)
I have a yellow bag and it gets a ton of outings--I can't wait to see more of it!
And can I ask about that bracelet? It's just lovely. I don't suppose it's relatively new and I could find it somewhere? jodie

    1. This yellow bag is just like carrying about my very own ray of sunshine. I've had so many compliments already and have only used it twice since I got home. Thanks for your lovely feedback. However, the news isn't good about the bracelet. I've had it for about 3 years now, so I think it's unlikely you'd be able to find it, sorry.

  3. Oh it's a gorgeous bag! Lovely shape, lovely colour. It goes so well with animal print and your mustard dress - you look extremely elegant - and tall!!! Love all the accessories, too.

Is the bag soft or rigid to the touch? I don't like bags when they're rigid. I bought a beautiful black leather Jasper Conran, Birkin look a like bag at a car boot sale for £3.50 a couple of years ago. It's lovely but so rigid I could use it as a weapon to brain someone - and I rarely use it...

    1. Thank you Veronica. The bag is beautifully soft, like a kind of latex feel, if you get what I mean. I read some photography tips before I started my blog, and seemingly camera height is vital in making you seem tall/short. Polly is an expert in that now and I'm also very selective so that I look as tall as possible.

    1. I does look good enough to eat, doesn't it? I wanted to give the bag the perfect backdrop and this dress fits the bill. Glad you approve too x

  8. I have seen these Furla bags and always dismissed them. Now that I see you with this beauty I know I was wrong. It looks very good and modern. I have a yellow bag by Coach and although lovely it hasn't got that modern vibe yours has. I was all oohh and aahhh over your whole outfit. Figures, doesn't it? Haha. Understated IS MY default setting haha. I love everything. The dress, the shoes, the bag (said that already) and that bracelet. And I love green.

    1. Well, this was the first Furla bag I'd seen, and I'm so glad I didn't hesitate. However, it was expensive, and I spent the first evening looking at it, wondering if I could bear to take it back. I then decided that all the lean shopping months ahead would even things out. Hahaha it's great how we shopaholics can justify anything!
