#Ping Pong Post 2

Hello again! Here we are a month later, with our next instalment of Ping Pong Post. My two fellow fashion bloggers Samantha of Fake Fabulous and Ann of Kremb de la Kremb have joined me again, this time in styling up this overshirt/shirtdress in our own particular way for your entertainment. Having been on its travels to Scotland and Hong Kong, here's how I wore it to work last week -

This is only the second time I've worn this since I bought it last year. I love to see these tall, willowy women waft about it long overshirts like this, but being just under 5ft 5in I wonder if I can carry off that look. The first time I wore it, I had the buttons done up, effectively turning it into a shirtdress, but that only made me feel short and dowdy. Not a look I'm aspiring too. However, the material is lovely, and I really like the graphic pattern, so when we girls joined up to create #PPP this seemed to be a great candidate for our project. I was keen to discover what the others made of the challenge, so let's see shall we?

Samantha looks fresh as a daisy in black and white. She's chosen a casual, playful styling for the shirtdress which suits her down to the ground.  Worn with simple pumps and her black across the body bag, the eye catching feature piece from Samantha has to be this quirky fishbone necklace. Stop Press: Samantha was recently featured by Grechen Relter of the Independent Fashion Bloggers as one of the "13 Fashion bloggers over 40 you should follow now". A well-deserved accolade for Samantha. Congratulations you lovely lady!

Ann's take on the shirtdress is quite different too. Paired up with this fab red trench, and cute white socks with her ankle boots, she has cleverly tied in this vintage inspired handbag with its red decoupage flowers. Ann is big on DIY projects; the makeover of this bag was featured on her blog last year see here. The addition of a black beret gives a very Parisian feel to the ensemble. Ooo la la! Ann could have stepped straight out of a French movie wearing this.

My take on the overshirt relies on mixing lots of pattern with black and silver accessories. Once I got over the idea of it having to be a dress, I had more freedom to be creative and this unfolded quite quickly. The stars of my particular outfit are these shoes which I recently bought whilst in Harrogate. See the whole feature of my mega shopping scoop here.

Thanks for dropping by to join us for this month's #PPP. I do hope you can come back again to see the next style challenge on the 20th May. We've had fun - I hope you enjoyed it too!

    1. I think because I'd worn it once before, I had an unfair advantage. This will even out next time with your outfit...
Great fun working with you both again xx

  3. I love this post Anna! What a great idea to have two other bloggers style the same piece. It's amazing how different it looks depending on how it is styled. And, by the way, go for the white pumps!! Thank you for linking up with SHOE AND TELL

    1. Thanks Cherie. The fun is seeing the final post and how different we all look - getting to that place can be a bit crazy! Am going to see about those white pumps, but worry I may look like lamb x

  5. Ahhh....so this is how the pros do print mixing? Just fabulous with not just 2 prints but 3---it'll take me another year to be brave enough to try that...ha ha!
I was just telling Samantha that great mind must be on the same wavelength ---I have a shirt dress post coming out in 3 weeks! And this is one of the ways we styled it! I have to admit I would never have thought of it until seeing it on another blogger...but I love it this way too (especially because mine feels a tad short at times).
    Love this series!! jodie

    1. Great to hear that you love the series Jodie. We're full of plans for the next few months ahead and I can see it's going to be such fun for us, and hopefully our readers too. You've been doing this for ages, I know and it's really interesting to see the different takes isn't it?

  6. I love seeing the same piece styled three different ways. You all bring a unique and fresh twist. It's a fantastic overshirt and I can imagine it billowing wonderfully in a breeze. Great styling!

    1. The reveal for us is always very last minute, so is part of the fun as we get a surprise too. I did have some lovely billowing shots, but was speaking and gesticulating all the way throughout every photo! Thanks for the feedback x

    1. It's so good to hear that you're enjoying this new idea Andrea. I love seeing how the other girls think so very differently to me, and each other. Yes, it's great fun for us all it seems x

  8. You know Anna - you never look short in your photos. I imagined you to be about 5' 7" tall!. The shirt dress looks great with trousers and it's how I would have worn it. I have a white and pink floral patterned one and always wear it over trousers in the summer. You look very put together in your monochrome and mixed patterns and the shoes are wonderful.

I love the way Samantha and Ann have styled the same shirt dress and both look great, but I have to say NO to the socks. I just do not like ankle socks showing with boots or shoes.

Looking forward to the next PPP!

    1. I love that you say I look very put together, as that's pretty much how I felt Veronica. And I think Polly does an excellent job of making me seem much taller than I really am. Thanks for all your lovely feedback. So glad your enjoying the series too x

    1. Am so pleased you appreciate these new shoes. They are the only new pair from my recent shopping trip - notice I say new, rather than the only. I did think they were the perfect finishing touch for my outfit. We're having a ball with this project!

  11. Anna, I just love how different it always turns out! And then, I'm left with two extra samples of how things should be done. I will stop to consider opening up my next shirt dress--why not!? And Anna, all the prints, well they're magical together.

Thank you for including me in this very fun endeavor. Until May 20....!

    Love, Ann

    1. Much as I thought this was a more difficult piece to style, it did end up giving us many more styling opportunities didn't it? I too, love how very different it's turned out and really can't wait for our next installment! Such fun for us all x

  13. It is a great idea, these ping pong posts (love the name too). And all three of you look really good in this shirt dress. What strikes me often with you is that you have such a good figure. Flat stomach and belly, tiny waist, curves where women should have curves. You might not be tall but you are beautiful. Enjoy what you have. (You see, I am 5ft74 but I would never expose my tummy in a tight cotton pair of trousers like you do. Some camouflage please..)

    1. Ping Pong Post seems to be a bit of a hit which is wonderful for us as we're all enjoying the challenge. Thank you so much for all your lovely compliments - I know you don't throw these about unwarranted. I think the daily sea swimming keeps me trim. You're right. We have to work with what we've got and much as I wish I had long legs like you (and Samantha) I'm aware that having a figure that's in proportion is a lucky draw. Thank you x

  14. All the various permutations are lovely, very much true to the personality of the individual stylemeister. Personally, veering on the side of being just around your height, Anna, I'd wear it the same way as you did but with heels. We all know Sheela has to have her heels :) and perhaps also the way Ann did, with higher heels HA!! Love it all though. Especially because this is such a clever way of displaying the one same theme, ever so literally.

And speaking of themes, Project Sister Act comes back this Friday and it's all about being a gold digger and I know how AMAZING you look in gilded pieces, Anna, so please, do come and join my link-up then? xoxo
