Summer Exhibitions: 5 of 6

As I write up this post, I feel a bit sad that our summer season is nearing the end. Our summer exhibition period is the highlight of my working year. From the planning stages in October, to the artists coming across to paint over the winter months, then working closely with my designer Bo as we tweak and refine the on line brochures, to shipping the artwork across to the island and the trials therein, and finally the hang of the work - it's all so rewarding. None of this could happen without the creativity and skill of the artists and my thanks go them, every single one, who have combined to make this a fantastic collection of summer shows this year. Our opening night party is the time for us all to relax and enjoy the event.

This is Tom Rickman, one of the artists of the evening - in fact, the only one who managed to make it across to the island to attend his opening night. See Tom's work here along with the paintings by John Dyer and Wendy McBride which all made for a wonderfully diverse show.

As you can tell, this skirt was truly made for twirling although I did get a bit giddy from all that spinning. Polly excelled herself with her motion photography, whilst avoiding all the photo-bombing from passers by. My final thanks must go to the ladies who once again provided all of the necessary back up and support to achieve a slick opening night party, despite it being one of our busiest yet. Thank you Ruth, Polly and Heather for all your hard work.

And this was a the view as we left for home. The evening had been pretty perfect, ending the same way.

My outfit comprises of the blouse which was from a vintage charity shop in Exeter, skirt from Enjoy Clothing in Truro, shoes and clutch are charity shopped in Truro, belt from eBay, necklace and rings are all charity shopped too.

    1. You know me Samantha, OTT at the best of times! I whooshed about in this outfit on our cruise and it always makes me feel good. I dithered about showing theses shots flashing my thighs, then realised that if I'm happy to show off my whole body in a swimsuit why does this seem any more racey? Lovely to hear from you again x

  4. Oh, I am just flapping my hands over here (no, really, I am!) about the awesomeness of this entire outfit. It makes me wish I had not passed along my Blouse-to-the-Max Mrs. Fawlty blouse like yours. That skirt is Swoosh Factor 10, and those shoes...well, you know I would just rip them right off your feet and run away giggling! Fab, top to bottom!

    1. I'm so delighted to have your feedback Sheila. If anyone can understand what this look is all about, it's you. We do love dressing up big-time, don't we? This whole outfit is transformational for me, and would be for you too! Are we really the same shoe size? Thanks for all the wonderful comments x

  5. It;s so cool looking at these and saying, "Ah, I recognise that spot!!"
You look fabulous!!! I adore the flamboyance and the contrast of textures and colours. I can't believe you charityshopped those shoes-they are so nice!!! A little bit envious as my size 42's/8's never come up in the charity shops!
So glad the show is going well. I can well understand your sadness as it coming to an end!
Polly and the girls look lovely- please say hi to Polly for me! She was so nice.
Love the photos where your skirt is billowing- you look really shocked at it!!! Ha ha!!x

    1. Isn't it grand that you know all these little nooks and crannies where we shoot the blog? I was so lucky finding these (brand new, labels still on) shoes, but there again I often am. My charity shopping is my hobby though and I do spend hours and hours trawling through the shops. Will pass on your regards to Polly. Am hoping to post our feature on Sunday. So lovely to hear from you x

    1. Thank you Dan. The skirt is a huge circle and therefore just flew like a disc when I twirled around. I felt a bit giddy like a child again. So funny!
