Brooch pile revised

One of the downsides of being a perfectionist is that I'm always in competition with myself. I know I can always do/be better and this reaches into every corner of my life. Take my brooch pile jacket from earlier on this summer see here. I was delighted with how this came together, but after a couple of wears I felt it could maybe benefit from a tweak or two. So here we have the new, improved version...

I wore the jacket on the mainland recently and it really drew quite a few compliments. The jacket dazzled and shone and I basked in its reflected glory. The need to improve it has passed now - it's as perfect as it needs to be. My shrink will be impressed with my progress.

Jacket from Gap, dress from TK Maxx as are sandals (these are nice). Watch is by Michael Kors and sailors knot bangle is by Kate Spade New York, rings are all gifts. Sunglasses are from Quay Australia.

  2. Being in competition with oneself can be exhausting as we are never satisfied, however I do find it often promotes creativity.

    Love how this turned out.

    1. I agree Suzanne. I'm never going to be someone who just "settles". I'd much rather challenge myself to be the best me I can be! This final version is finally good enough. Thanks for your comments x

  3. Wowza---that is extraordinary!!
I have to ask---do you leave the brooches on the jacket? Or take them on & off each time?

    1. This is now officially my brooch pile jacket, so there's no need to take them on and off. That was the whole point in trying to get the combination right - now I can hang it up and be satisfied with it. Great to hear from you again x

  4. I have been collecting various pins and patches and bits and bobs for decorating my jean jacket, but I never quite get around to it. Must drag that project back into the light, although I fear it will not live up to this bedazzled sparkly wonder!

Love that glorious dress, Anna! Perfect for summer.

    1. Come on Sheila, I'd love to see your version! I fancy you may be on vacation currently so it could be a little project for you... Glad you like the dress. I recently opened up the back seam to give a little slit thus making it easier for walking. I've heard of wiggle dresses, but that was so tight it was ridiculous!

  7. Great idea. I have got quite a few brooches, some of them seldom if ever worn. A little group of them would be worth a try.

  9. The bits and baubles denim jacket is so much fun! You got me thinking about the variety of ways you could add texture and dimension. Jean jackets have always had a bit of a "blank canvas" in my view. So far I've only enhanced one but I've seen many that are really wonderful on Pinterest and also in magazines.

    1. Hopefully this has inspired you to do something similar Marilee. I know Pinterest is a massive catalogue of everything creative, but really never have the time to spare and browse as much as I'd like to. Have a wonderful week x

    2. So clever! All these broaches you have applied here, each one with it's little bit of history. The dress is stunning too.x

    4. At the same time I was conjuring this idea up, so was my blogging friend Suzanne Carillo. We had a race to the finish line with both of our versions on Instagram now. I adore the jacket and the notion of all the stories is so lovely.
